Spoiler alert for Episode 7 of 'The Mandalorian'

We knew he was hiding something. Baby Yoda, as the internet knows him as, was too cute, too convenient, too mindlessly joyful to be trusted, and now, in Episode 7 of 'The Mandalorian,' the little womprat has shown his true colours, displaying a mastery of the Force that's been lost for a generation and attempting to choke a perfectly innocent woman to death. The synopsis for the season finale of 'The Mandalorian' reads "The Mandalorian comes face to face with an unexpected enemy" and we're calling it right now - that enemy will be none other than the long-eared child known as Baby Yoda.

We've already examined how the as-yet-unnamed species may look like a baby, but as a 50-year-old sentient entity likely is a lot more intelligent than he lets on. We've seen more of just how crafty he can be in Episode 6, as he leads Zero (Richard Ayoade) on a merry chase through the Razor Crest before luring him to the exact spot where the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) takes the droid out. The child has far more agency than he lets on, and enough wide-eyed adorability to gain the fierce loyalty of the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy.

The first real hints at the undoubtedly boundless depths of darkness in Baby Yoda's soul we see is when the child attempts to strangle Cara Dune (Gina Carano) who has committed no other crime other than almost beating the Mandalorian in a friendly arm-wrestling match. Baby Yoda obviously can't bear to see his bodyguard shamed, and like all master villains, is punishing Cara for perceived affrontery. A person might argue that Baby Yoda simply doesn't understand his powers and was just being protective of the Mandalorian, but Baby Yoda has obviously already gotten to that person and that person must not be trusted.

Because Baby Yoda most definitely has impressive control over his powers. To choke someone telekinetically, without hurting anyone nearby, instead of just slamming them against the nearest wall takes precision, and most likely practice. Baby Yoda understands when he is in danger, and when he is needed to help those most likely to get him out of danger. He shows prodigous use of the Force when he uses it to heal Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) from a wound that should have killed him. What else can the child do? How long will it be before we see lightning streak out of his little green fingers?

Though we only have one episode left for Season 1, Season 2 of 'The Mandalorian' has already begun filming. It's possible that the child will not reveal the full extent of his villainy in the season finale, but we have every confidence that sooner or later, his darkness shall be known to all.

The next episode of 'The Mandalorian' airs December 27, on Disney+
