Ateez Wooyoung slams sasaeng for calling Jongho during live stream, fans hail professionalism

While Ateez is currently preparing to headline the second leg of their 2022 Tour, Atinys are praising Wooyoung for calling out sasaengs on live stream

Ateez is going to hold the first day of the second leg of their 2022 concert ‘The Fellowship: Beginning of the End’ that first started on January 7 in Seoul, South Korea. The second leg is also Ateez’s first international concert in more than two years since the cancellation of their 2020 World Tour. Ateez members will start touring the USA starting from Chicago on January 18.

Ahead of the tour, maknaes of the group, Wooyoung and Jongho, gathered together in a live stream on YouTube to greet fans. During the concert, Ateez maknaes engaged in a fun conversation with Atinys (their fans) as they prepared them for the upcoming concert. While the duo was conversing with fans, it was evident that Jongho was spammed by a caller on his smartphone. It was later revealed that these incessant calls to Jonho were from a sasaeng (obsessed fan) of Ateez.

Wooyoung calls out sasaeng

Despite the Ateez maknae duo’s attempts to diffuse the situation, the sasaeng didn't stop calling Jongho, trying to hinder the live stream. This act from the stalker ticked Wooyoung off as he called out the sasaeng on a live stream. While Atinys did not initially notice what was happening, Wooyoung explained to fans what exactly was happening which angered many Atinys who are protective of the privacy of their idols. 

Wooyoung took it upon himself to warn sasaengs, saying, “We’re in the middle of a live, you shouldn’t call. You guys keep calling Jongho, but it’s not a good thing to do.” Jongho later added that he initially did not mind the first few times but the incessant calling was extremely disturbing for the idol. He too, asked the stalkers to stop when Wooyoung reprimanded these so-called fans saying, “Do not do it.”

Wooyoung did not let go of his considerate self as he continued, “We are grateful that you like us but please don’t do this. We are live streaming right now.” Calling out these obsessed fans, Wooyoung pointed out that he and his bandmates often receive calls from restricted numbers when they are in the middle of a live stream which is a way of sasaengs interrupting these idols.

Atinys reprimand sasaengs

Fans of the group are praising Wooyoung for his professionalism. One fan said, “I kinda love how jongho didn’t straight away changing his number despite being called by the sasaeng and wooyoung calling them out on public live. Like, why should they run away when it’s not their fault? Sexyh.” Another fan complimented Wooyoung saying, “Wooyoung was so professional to that sasaeng while Jongho is so silent not wanting to make her him obvious. Respect kpop Artists just as much as they try to respect and tolerate you.”

One Atiny joked, “Lowkey wanna see wooyoung show that sasaeng number phone so that atiny can spam him/her.” Another fan said, “But at the same point, i really glad that wooyoung mention ssg in the live so that they can stop being annoying and on the other hand also informs atiny that there is a sasaeng who is bothering them!” Another fan said, “​​I'm so glad jongho has wooyoung calling out those sasaeng but this is so upsetting the fuck.” One fan said, “It's true what i heard earlier tho. When will this sasaeng go learn her place?? Wooyoung already told them very nicely but they keep call them through out the live.”
