Arizona’s Glendale city to change its name ‘to honor the start’ of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour
GLENDALE, ARIZONA: Have you ever heard of an entire city stanning over a global musical superstar? Well, Glendale, a city in Arizona, will be creating history as it decided to change its name to “honor the start” of Taylor Swift’s series of concerts as she commences The Eras Tour from the city. The city mayor Jerry Weiers is reportedly going to be announcing the city’s new name on Monday, March 13 and the nomenclature will only be in effect during the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker’s concert dates on March 17 and 18 at the city’s State Farm Arena.
Using a plethora of references from the Grammy Award-winning singer’s canon, the statement from the city reads, "There is no need to calm down, we’re fearless and doing something highly unusual to celebrate the fact that Taylor’s concerts start right here!" It further continued, "We know all too well that she’s one of the most influential artists of her generation and we are writing our own love story for her and greeting every Swiftie in style!"

Weiers is reportedly all set to give a brief on the places where the fans can go enjoy themselves after the concerts during Monday’s announcements. The entire city is reportedly gearing up to welcome “every Swiftie in style” as the restaurants are curating their menu in a Taylor Swift theme and the city is decking up for the two-day-long concert.
The Eras Tour
Announced on November 1, 2022, by the ‘Reputation’ crooner Swift herself, the sixth concert tour of the 33-year-old singer-songwriter has already made records. Swift, who could not go on a concert tour for her studio albums, ‘Lover’ (2019), ‘Folklore’ (2020), and ‘Evermore’ (2020) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, conceived The Eras Tour as a "journey through all of [her] musical eras".
According to reports in the media, there has been "unprecedented" and "astronomical" demand for tickets to The Eras Tour, with 3.5 million people signing up for the U.S. leg of Ticketmaster's presale program. On November 15, right after the presale began, the company's website crashed, but 2.4 million tickets for the tour were sold that day, shattering the previous mark for the most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day.
'Oh her impact is insane'
'Swifties', or the fans of the musical superstar, are already welcoming the move and are excited about this honor for their favorite star. "She's a living legend and this tour is already historic so that makes sense," says one fan. While another social media user shared an image of the earth and Swift in front of it saying, "Wait it's all mine?" and an astronaut holding flowers replying, "Always has been, Queen". This is a unique twist to the popular 'Always Has Been' meme format. A third user wrote, "They’re gonna make Glendale a sundown town in honor of Taylor".
