'She was 19!' John Mayer fans at war with Taylor Swift fans over 'grooming' accusations after 'CHD' show
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Mayer is all set to appear on ‘Call Her Daddy’ (CHD) on Wednesday, December 21. Sharing a glimpse of the interview, 'CHD' released a video of the 45-year-old singer talking to host Alex Cooper where he says, “A lot of the s**t that I did in my 20s was an attempt to reset the misunderstanding, and I did worse. In those moments, I would’ve traded every song I was going to write to not have that feeling.” Ahead of his appearnce, many on the internet reportedly slammed Taylor Swift for accusing the 'Paper Doll' singer of grooming her.
Following the announcement of the interview, people took to social media with one of many questioning, "Why are we giving John Mayer a platform?" This comes after Swift, who dated Mayer from December 2009 to February 2010 when she was 19 and he was nearly 19 years older than her, released her 10th studio album ‘Midnights’ on October 21, and a few hours later, she dropped an additional seven tracks and set the internet ablaze.

Many believed the lyrics of the bonus track 'Would've, Could've, Should've' indicated her relationship with Mayer. Through the song, Swift described her deep regret about dating older men.
Even the lyrics of her song titled 'Dear John' in the album 'Speak Now' go as, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with? Don't you think nineteen's too young to be played by your dark, twisted games?" In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, Mayer didn't appreciate the fact that he was the subject of the song. Speaking about it, the 'Love on the Weekend' singer said, "I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bulls**t.”
'She was 19'
Even though many bashed the 'Heartbreak Warfare' singer, others were quick to slam Swift. One wrote, "A lot of ladies in the comments calling John Mayer a groomer for dating Taylor Swift when she was 19. Grooming by definition is child exploitation so these women don’t think a 19-year-old woman is an adult with the agency. My guess is they only think this way when it’s beneficial." One more said, "A literal groomer would be a child molester. While 19 is young, it is legal and to call that grooming negates actual victims of grooming."
