R&B crooner Ari Lennox’s recent visit to the Amsterdam airport turned out to be a horrible experience as she ended up getting arrested by the Dutch authorities on Monday, November 29. The singer claimed that she was racially profiled by one of the staff members from the airline. The Dreamville singer then took to her official Twitter account to rant about the same in a series of tweets.

It was later revealed by the Dutch military police that the ‘Shea Butter Baby’ hitmaker was arrested at Amsterdam Schiphol airport for disturbing public order, as reported by Reuters. The singer, in her tweets, had a different story to tell as she then got a mixed reaction from social media users. Some extended support to Ari while others suggested that one needs to follow the rules in a foreign land. Speaking of getting arrested, singer Roman Tumanov was sent behind the bars after she mocked Vladimir Putin’s $1.4 billion palace in a song a few months ago. Rock veteran Marilyn Manson has also been in news after several actresses accused of him sexual assault. However, the singer never got arrested.

‘F**k Amsterdam security’, says Ari Lennox

Explaining her side of the story, Lennox first tweeted, “F**k Amsterdam security. They hate black people.” And, soon followed it with another tweet that read, “I just want to go home. I’ll never leave my house again.” The singer-songwriter then used sarcasm to deal with the chaos by simply writing, “Wow.” Ari later tweeted, “They’re arresting me” sending her fans into a frenzy. The songstress then concluded her rant by saying, “I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.”

According to Complex, Lennox had also tweeted, “Wow Amsterdam I’m horrified. I was so happy to travel and this evil woman...I’ve never experienced racism so blatant.” However, she had removed this tweet from her Twitter wall. The Dutch military police claimed that the singer was held for being aggressive towards an airline official and also for being drunk in public, as published by Reuters. Shedding light on the case, spokesman Robert van Kapel said, “Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn't calm down. That's why she had to be taken into custody." The details on how long will she remain in custody are yet to be known. MEAWW will keep you posted.

‘Some Americans have issues following the rules’

Social media users thronged to Twitter as soon as they got to know about Lennox's arrest. “What’s going with Queen man. She definitely not going back to Amsterdam no more after this” said one loyal fan as another claimed, “Rcsts cops are always desperate to arrest Black people. It’s like their fetish.” One user asked, “Why would you act out in foreign land enough to where police arresting you.”

The next one added, “So, I guess when people like #AriLennox get in some trouble the easy go to is just start throwing out accusations of racism. What a wonderful world we live in. I think I'm going to side with the airline on this one.” Whereas, another tweeted, “Some Americans have issues following the rules as they think they are above all these and if it does not work start complaining on social media.” One individual shared, “Bad behavior is not racism. Siding with the airline lol”, as one concluded, “Sad that us black people have to live in fear of such situations. Praying for my good sis it's all love right here.”
