LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Austin Butler and Angela Bassett holding hands at the Oscars 2023 have left the internet feel wholesome. Both actors who lost their awards were spotted being supportive of each other. The video of the actors being seated together and Bassett comforting Butler went viral on social media amid the actress being slammed for being visibly upset when she lost the 'Best Supporting Actress' award to Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, at Oscars.

The 64-year-old actress was nominated for the category for her role in 'Black Panther'. However, Curtis, 64, won the category for her role in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'. On the other hand, Butler who was nominated for the 'Best Actor' category for his performance as the 'king of rock n roll' in 'Elvis', the biopic by Baz Luhrmann lost to Brendan Fraser who won the award for his role in 'The Whale'.

'The kind of woman I imagined she was'

As of Monday morning, the viral clip of Bassett comforting Butler when the Oscars presenters were announcing the 'Best Actor' winner award garnered more than 409,100 views on on Twitter and social media users found it to be a heartfelt moment shared between the actors.

One Twitter user wrote, "Angela Bassett holding Austin Butler’s hand while he’s nervous…is exactly the kind of woman I imagined she was," and another wrote, "Aww the way she squeezed his hand in encouragement at the end. He’s been through a lot this past year."

"The way Angela was like, I got you Austin, it’s stressful I know, I got you," a user tweeted. Another user wrote, "Angela Bassett holding hands with Austin Butler is the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen," and another opined, "You can’t tell me this isn’t the cutest f****** thing you’ve seen!!!
