LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Austin Butler, who received a lot of praise for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the 2022 biopic, ‘Elvis, lost to Brendan Fraser, who won the Best Actor for ‘The Whale’ at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12. The internet was left unhappy with one saying, "Justin Butler got ROBBED."

A fan wrote, "I'll admit I'm extremely biased in this as a diehard Elvis Presley fan, but Austin Butler just got robbed. He practically *became* Elvis. The fact Butler didn't win is wrong now and it will age even worse." Another commented, "Austin Butler lost his entire identity to a role and the academy was still like Nah."

'Brandon Fraiser does not deserve the Best Actor'

One of many continued to say, "Austin Butler was robbed. In all of the Elvis bio movies ever made, he was supreme. The Academy got this one wrong." Another wrote, "Yeah, this is 100% bullsh*t. Brandon Fraiser does not deserve the Best Actor over Austin Butler. 100% bullsh*t." On the other hand, a fan expressed by saying, "I feel very sorry about the way Elvis (2022) was treated today. The incredible work about the costumes, scenery, photos, lights, montage, storyline and PERFORMANCES… anyway, thank you Baz Luhrmann and the crew. And Austin Butler, you’ll always be our best actor!"

'Austin Butler will still talk in his Elvis accent'

However, there were many who trolled Butler for still speaking with an Elvis’ accent. One wrote, "Austin Butler after playing Elvis so method that he permanently changed his accent and is still stuck talking like him, and then losing Best Actor..." Another wrote, "It would be 2060 and austin butler will still talk in his elvis accent."

Talking about his Elvis' accent, Butler said at the Golden Globes earlier this year in January 2023, "I don't think I sound like him still, but I guess I must because I hear it a lot. I often liken it to when somebody lives in another country for a long time, and I had three years where that was my only focus in life, so I'm sure there are just pieces of my DNA that will always be linked in that way," as per Town&Country.
