Who is Trent Toney?

Trent Toney a singer/songwriter based in Hillsboro, Oregon, creates indie, folk, and alternative pop. Trent has been obsessed with music since he was a child. He began piano lessons at the age of seven, and his parents paid the tuition until he graduated from high school. Though music was not his primary area of focus at the time, Trent was always picking up little jobs such as performing in church and experimenting with production. He even took up music-related studies at school. Trent began producing videos on YouTube as a pastime in college, and one of them received 2.5 million views, boosting him to fame. Everything changed due to a series of personal circumstances that shifted his life's trajectory. Trent began to use music as a therapeutic tool and converted his troubles into art.

Trent, a Glencoe High School alumnus, has a passion for music and believes he can make a profession out of it. His wide smile and easygoing demeanor are contagious, but his gentle, soulful voice and guitar skills are much better.

Trent began performing in his local music scene in 2017, playing up to five gigs per week, often multiple shows a day. He scrambled for gigs to gather funds to pay for studio time while creating hundreds of tunes. His music expresses universal ideas while simultaneously being highly personal. He frequently uses the guitar and piano in his music. In his live sets, he also employs a loop station. Trent is a completely self-sufficient artist who has grown his team over the years by working with people like Matt Grecco, the owner of Rye Room Studios, who assisted Trent in capturing the vision for his sound.

Apart from this, Trent is also a full-time firefighter. He gradually grew his team by finding the proper personnel over time. "My team is just people I’d want to hang out with and people who actually care about me," Trent remarked. The musician intends to expand his brand and build his online following with the assistance of his social media and production team. Trent wishes to one day go on tour and share his music with a global audience. Until then, he will continue to share his creative process through his platform.

Trent is hoping that in a few years, he will be able to perform larger-scale tours, despite the fact that times are difficult right now because of the aftermath of Covid. He hopes to tour the world in the future to perform his music for people from other cultures. Furthermore, strengthening his own brand online is one of his key goals right now. He wants to communicate with his followers and other music aficionados. Exploring further collaborations with different artists and producers is an intriguing prospect for the future.

Trent believes that as he continues to raise his music for the world to enjoy, they will get to know the person behind the songs and respect the creative environment in which he lives.

'Close to You'

In the song 'Close to You', Trent sings about love and the need to be near someone even though there seems to be a world in between you and them. Trent created the song while under quarantine because he was pursuing a lady he met just before the confinement. Trent ached for her even though they couldn't physically be together, and he turned his need into a song.

His songwriting technique is heavily influenced by his high degree of imagination. Trent is a refreshing personality in the market since his music is unlike normal pop music. Trent's songs are described by listeners as having indie, folk, and alternative pop characteristics, and his videos are very witty.

Trent released his single 'Knew You' in late 2020. His Ed Sheeran-inspired vocal styling and soothing acoustic guitar talent contribute to his music's awe-inspiring qualities. Listening to 'Knew You' offers a sensation of something familiar while also being oddly new and unheard of.

Trent is a Hillsboro, Oregon-based indie folk singer and firefighter. He has previously performed at modest venues and in churches and began performing more often in 2017. His performances frequently include a looping station. He has three original songs available on streaming platforms and is very popular on YouTube and TikTok. One of his videos shows him serenading college girls and then performing 'Pretty Woman' with a group. There were over 420K likes and almost 2 million views on the video.

Trent's social media presence is close to none, so there's no such official announcement from the firefighter about his debut on 'AGT'.
