LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21's new episode got delayed because of the 95th Academy Awards. The judges, however, have assured viewers that the latest episode will be a must-watch.

Katy Perry tweeted, "It may be Oscar Sunday but don’t worry there's still a lil taste of #idol tonight!" However, the singing competition is actually getting more intense with many aspiring singers auditioning for a golden ticket to Hollywood. Among these contenders, Reette Thorns' soulful voice stood out among fans.

Reette Thorns performs to motivate her mother

Thorns sang her heart out, leaving all three judges stunned. The aspiring singer performed 'I Believe' by Fantasia to show her mother, who has struggled with addiction, that there was something to believe in. After finishing, she broke down in tears. Lionel Richie rushed to the stage to give the 'American Idol' contestant a tissue while praising her by saying that the first note was spot on. He was touched by Reette's performance and gave her a big yes. Perry said that perfection did not exist anyway, and she just needs a little polish. Reette got the golden ticket to Hollywood but Luke Bryan gave her a no just so she knew there was work to be done.

Soon after getting her ticket, Thorns posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, "Guess who is going to hollywood???? so so so grateful to the friends and family who have reached out. this was incredibly hard, and to not have my mom here by my side was even harder. but miss ma’am i love you. you made me, THE STAR I AM!!!!! i love u mama. i can’t wait for you to watch me shine."

Viewers also loved Reette's performance and showed they were with her in the comments section. "This was a tall order but this was full of emotion in parts. Maybe lacking a bit of polish but there's a lotta voice in there," a person commented while another user commented, "Add that confidence we all see in you and you are going to go real far! Can’t wait to see how this journey plays out for you! @reettethorns." Another user added, "Whatever your mother went through been hard, but your was hard work, and what you sang was the hard work, because your voice was so graceful, I bet Fantasia Barrino's watching this and she be proud of you too, I love it, so Reette, Well done, great job and it's a happy day for you mother." Another user penned, "So touching Absolutely beautiful performance." A few users also shared their reactions on Twitter, as one wrote, "Awesome job by Reette Thorns tonight on @AmericanIdol! Making all of us in #Madison proud." Another user tweeted, "Reette Thorns is fearless! Taking on a @TasiasWord song is a Herculean task but she emoting and singing her heart out. Needs a little polish but enjoyed it."
