Who is Trey Louis? Santa Fe High School shooting survivor tries his luck on 'American Idol' Season 21
SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: We have waited for Ryan Seacrest to utter the lines, “this is American Idol,” and it finally happened. 'American Idol' premiered on ABC on Sunday, February 19, and some of the most talented musicians took the stage by storm. Zachariah Smith, Lucy Love, Haven Madison, and Kya Monee were some of the singers among the other contestants trying to win a ticket to the next round.
These auditions start the journey for several people who have dreamed of winning the reality series. The trio of judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie are back for this Season 21. As the first round of auditions is over, the second batch of contestants eagerly awaits their turn to make their debut. One such hopeful musician is Trey Lemley aka Trey Louis. Who is Trey Louis?
Trey Louis is the stage name for Trey Lemley. He’s a young country artist from Sante Fe. Trey has developed quite a following on TikTok and gets around 1.4 million likes for his content. Trey’s had multiple videos go viral, including covers of Chris Stapleton’s 'You Should Probably Leave' and 'Broken Halos.' The first viral video that got more than 2 million views was released last July. Trey followed up his success with a TikTok entitled “Y’all have absolutely changed my life.” And posted another Chris Stapleton cover, 'A Simple Song.'
Trey graduated from Sante Fe High School in 2019 and is a survivor of a school shooting that occurred there on May 18, 2018. Two weeks before the end of his junior year, a fellow student reportedly walked into Trey’s art classroom and opened fire, killing 10 and wounding 13 others. Trey took refuge in a closet and later learned that one of the students he had been sitting with was killed; two others friends were wounded. Two of his teachers, one a substitute, were also among those killed. He later shared his experience on Instagram, in a post. And he’s posted a Sante Fe Strong logo bearing the names of the victims each year on the anniversary of the shootings.
Trey Louis on 'American Idol' Season 21
Trey is among the singers to audition for Season 21 of 'American Idol'. He is a young man from New Mexico and usually sings the covers of country songs. Trey announced his Idol audition in late January calling it, “the greatest thing I’ve ever done.”
The young high school shooting survivor will make his debut in Season 21 in front of the panel of three judges and is all set to lure the audience with his country tunes. Don't forget to catch Trey in the next round of auditions.
