MADISON, WISCONSIN: American Ghost Walks, a Bayfield enterprise, will feature on the ABC show 'Shark Tank' on October 27. Mike Huberty, the company's owner, and his sister, Allison Jornlin, discussed the family business.
The highly acclaimed reality show 'Shark Tank' allows prospective entrepreneurs to pitch their company ideas to a panel of seasoned investors known as "sharks."
American Ghost Walks will explain their creative approach to ghost tourism in the hopes of attracting financing and expanding their reach.
American Ghost Walks is the nation's premier facilitator of ghost tours and paranormal encounters in haunted areas.
They provide informative and interesting ghost tours with a staff of expert guides who dive into the history, folklore, and ghostly phenomena of each unique place.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, American Ghost Walks offers an amazing adventure into the unknown.
What is American Ghost Walks?
People visit tourist areas for a variety of reasons - some want adventure, others want history, and still others simply want to relax.
However, there is a subgroup of travelers who want something more—something frightening that sends shivers down their spine.
For them, American Ghost Walks is the ideal entry point into the world of the unknown, the paranormal, and the really eerie sites that dot the American landscape.
American Ghost Walks did not begin as a national company; rather, it grew out of the interests and abilities of two siblings, Allison and Mike.
Both had an early curiosity about the paranormal, which was rooted in their upbringing.
Mike grew up in Mukwonago, near the enigmatic Rainbow Springs Resort, a 760-room hotel that never opened and burned down in 2002 under unexplained circumstances.
The siblings' fascination with the paranormal was fueled by the popular culture of the time, including television series like 'Unsolved Mysteries,' which debuted in 1987 and featured many unsolved crimes and mysteries, including the paranormal.
American Ghost Walks provides detailed walking tours that are supported by thorough research, ensuring that the stories described are 100 per cent factual.
Participants are accompanied by guides who are well-versed in local history and mythology, resulting in an enlightening and enjoyable experience.
Each trip is intended to be entertaining, with the purpose of leaving participants ecstatic at the end.
The walking tours span many states, each with its own set of stories to share. In California, for example, visitors can hear stories that appear to have been plucked from the pages of pulp fiction but are, in reality, based on first-hand events.
In Illinois, attention moves to infamous crimes and their disturbing aftermath. In Louisiana, tourists may learn about the history and mystery of voodoo culture in New Orleans, while in Maine, they can hear stories from time-worn seaside communities.
Minnesota astounds with tales of malevolent ghosts and historical executions.
The trip to Puerto Rico visits Old San Juan both during the day and at night, uncovering eerie legends connected to the Devil's Triangle.
Wisconsin, where it all began, is rich with local mythology and stories, from the steps of the state house to the shores of Lake Michigan.
Who are the founders of American Ghost Walks?
Mike originally found a creative outlet for his paranormal concerns through music. He was a member of the band Sunspot, which specialized in Weird Wisconsin Rock.
Later, he was featured on platforms such as the TRVL Channel and the BBC. However, in 2010, he launched Madison Ghost Wlaks, with the goal of highlighting the mythology and history of Wisconsin's capital city, Madison.
When Mike was facing financial difficulties, his sister Allison, who was already running a similar firm in Milwaukee, recommended he start one in Madison. Within a month, the company had gained enough traction to enable him to pay his rent.
Mike received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and worked as a musician for Sunspot LLC. He joined his sister Allison to launch this firm in 2010.
Allison was an explorer of odd occurrences even before American Ghost Walks was formed. Richard Crowe, the pioneer of US ghost tourism since 1973, prompted her to create Milwaukee's first haunted history tour in 2008.
With over 20 years of experience investing in odd happenings, she was named Wisconsin Researcher of the Year by the Milwaukee Paranormal Conference in 2016.
]Allison also makes public appearances and writes for numerous publications on the strange and unusual.
Following her graduation from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Allison spent four years working for Trisept Solutions as a web producer. She spent twelve years as an instructor at Indian Community School and was also a ghost tour guide.

Who will steal the deal on 'Shark Tank'?
American Good Walks may not score a deal with any of the Sharks, since all the pitches for the October 27 episode appear to be producers recruiting businesses to coincide with the Halloween-themed show. While it's a wonderful commercial for the company, we don't believe it's a genuine pitch.
