How many children does America Ferrera have? 'Superstore' star returns to show after surprise pregnancy made her quit
'Superstore' to supermom is a leap that America Ferrera took in 2020. 'Superstore' fans were left gobsmacked at Ferrera's exit, which she announced a few months before she gave birth to her second daughter Lucia, in March 2020.
Her co-stars seemed quite taken aback as well. Ben Feldman said in a TV Line interview, "We've been doing this for a while [and] America has a lot going on, so I don't think anybody was like, 'Oh my God! She's leaving!?' But I think, timing wise, I was a little surprised. I think we all were. She was, too."
America exited 'Superstore' after 100 episodes, the longest she has ever been on a TV show. She was on 'Ugly Betty' for 85 episodes across four seasons. Many feel that Ferrera's absence from 'Superstore' has led to Season 6 being the last season of the show. Ferrera, however, will be making a special appearance for the finale episode on March 25. 'Superstore' or not Ferrera has had a very busy year on the personal front. With two kids under two, the pandemic in particular and the challenges of working from home, has also hit America Ferrera quite hard. Let's now share with you more details on the fiercely private actor's family life.

So how has the transition been for America Ferrera post 'Superstore'? The actor and her husband Ryan Piers Williams often take to social media to share their parenting challenges but they have never revealed the faces of their children, daughter Lucia Marisol, who is little under a year old, and two-year-old Sebastian 'Baz' Piers.
On the challenges of parenting during a pandemic, Ferrera in an interview with People said, "Oh my goodness, it's a world's difference. Everything's been so compounded by the pandemic and by quarantine, and truly not being able to have the extended network of family and friends that one would normally have when you bring a new baby home to hold the baby and give you a break or to help."
As for how it is different from when she had her first child son Sebastian, Ferrera tells People, "My son went to everywhere with me. I went back to work when he was only 10 weeks old and I would hand him to like a camera grip. I'd be like, 'You hold him. I've got to go over here'."
Her daughter Lucia, on the other hand, who was born in the middle of the pandemic, has a tough time adjusting to new faces, a phase that Ferrera hopes that she can get over. But while Fererra had to exit 'Superstore', she's still trying to stay super productive though that is hard with working from home. Ferrera continuing her interview with People says, "Working from home is particularly difficult as mommy because if he or she smell me — and they smell me anywhere in the vicinity — then it's just, 'Mommy mommy mommy'. That's all they want, regardless of them having Dad or when we're lucky enough to have someone helping us out. If Mom's anywhere near, they just want me, so it can be difficult when I actually have to do work and get things done. I'll lock myself in my bedroom because it’s the only place I can talk without my daughter hearing my voice and hearing her screaming for not holding her."
We're sure plenty of parents can relate to that.
Fans, we're sure, are thrilled to see America Ferrera enjoying domestic bliss, but for 'Superstore' fans it's all about Amy, the character America Ferrera plays on 'Superstore' returning.
One fan posted on Instagram, "Some of the greatest news of my life." Others, however, wished that it could have been left a surprise, "why would you post this and spoil it for viewers lol couldn’t it just be a surprise when actually watching it"
You can catch America Ferrera's final appearance on the one-hour finale of 'Superstore' which airs on Thursday, March 25 (at 8/7c).
