Actor Amandla Stenberg will play the lead role in Damien Chazelle's Netflix show 'The Eddy'.

The show is a musical drama for which the Oscar-award winning director will collaborate with Tony Award winner Jack Thorne, who has previously worked on the Broadway show 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'.

Amandla will star opposite André Holland who is well-known for his performance in 'Moonlight'. Damien will executive produce the show and also direct two of the eight episodes.

The screenplay is also by Jack and will feature dialogues in French, Arabic, and English.

The show is set in present-day Paris and the plot revolves around a club, its owner, the in-house band that plays at the club, and the city itself. Amandla will play the character of Holland's teenage daughter Julie in the show, according to a report in Deadline

The production of the show will begin in France soon and the music for the show will be composed by six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard, who is currently working on Alanis Morissette musical 'Jagged Little Pill'.

The other executive producers of the show include Alan Poul, Jimmy Desmarais and Olivier Bibas of Atlantique Productions, Jack and Glen.

Amandla is well-known for her performance in the critically acclaimed film 'The Hate U Give' and became popular after portraying the role of Rue in 'The Hunger Games' alongside Jennifer Lawrence. She is one of the influential voices in Hollywood and advocates for the LGBTQIA+ community and people of color.

The show will see her musical talent come to the fore as her character plays the violin. For the series, she has sung a song with singer-songwriter Zander Hawley. Before this, the duo had released a folk-rock EP in August 2015 under the name Honeywater.
