LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘She’s the Man’ star Amanda Bynes, who was on psychiatric hold since March 19, 2023, will be staying in the hospital for another week. Sources close to her informs that she would be aiming for a release next week.

Former child star Bynes, who celebrated her 37th birthday on Monday, April 3, is hoping she will be well enough to be released next week, reports TMZ. According to sources close to the actress, Amanda and the medical staff have divided her stay into weeks. She is not obligated to stay at the facility, but she does not feel prepared enough to leave yet. But when the time comes, she will enroll in an outpatient mental health program.

While Bynes’s conservatorship officially ended in 2022 following a nine year tenure where her mother Lynn Organ was trusted with her financial and medical decisions, her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes continue to support her during this difficult time. In 2022, when her conservatorship ended, her attorney David A Esquibias told TMZ, “Amanda appreciates the love and support of her fans during this time. She thanks her family for never giving up. Now that the conservatorship has ended, she looks forward to completing her bachelor’s degree and living her life.” She indeed earned her associate's degree from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2019.

What happened in March?

As reported by TMZ in March, Amanda Bynes was found roaming naked in the wee hours of Sunday morning around downtown Los Angeles according to eyewitnesses. According to reports, Bynes flagged a car down and informed the driver that she was recovering from a mental episode. Then the former Nickelodeon actress made her own 911 call.

According to the news outlet’s law enforcement sources, a mental health team at a nearby police station decided that Bynes ought to be placed on a 5150 psych hold after she was taken there. Fortunately, she did not appear to have suffered any injuries during the incident, however considering the location of where she was discovered, things could have been much worse.

The former child star broke up with fiance Paul Michael in January nearly after four years of relationship. On March 28, Daily Mail reported her family banned ex-fiancé Paul Michael from visiting her in the hospital as they felt the former lover does not “have her best interests in mind,” An insider informed the news outlet that “They do not want her ex-fiancé around her, and he has been instructed to have no contact with her,” adding, “He does not seem to have her best interests in mind and her family has nothing good to say about him.”

In 2012, Bynes was charged with driving under influence. In 2013, she was found in possession of restricted drugs. In 2013, she was detained after setting fire in a neighbor’s driveway. After her parents asked for conservatorship, her mother was granted a temporary one. 

In October 2014, accused her father of sexual abuse. But later she again tweeted negating the allegation against her father and added, "The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me," reports Complex. Bynes’s mother again receives her conservatorship and the actress herself revealed she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. 

In 2018, she came out sober after garnering support from her parents and she also apologized to her parents by saying, "I'm really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can't turn back time but if I could, I would. And I'm so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me,” reports Paper.

In an interview to Good Morning America, she revealed while she didn’t do “heroin or meth” she certainly did ADHD prescribed medicine Adderall. In February, 2022 her conservatorship formally ended and she was reportedly fined until the March 2023 episode.
