LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amanda Bynes was once a sensation in the Hollywood industry. She acted in several movies, including 'Easy A', 'Sydney White', and 'She is the man', in which she acted alongside Channing Tatum. Bynes' career took a wrong turn as she got apprehended in 2012 over a DUI suspicion, which resulted in getting charged with two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run.
She is currently under psychiatric hold after being found naked and alone on the streets of Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday, March 20, according to NBC News. The actress did not have an easy life as she struggled with a nine-year-long conservatorship along with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Amanda Bynes' journey in Hollywood
Bynes started her acting career with the Nickelodeon sketch show 'She's All That!' in 1990 and had a breakthrough in her acting career after being a part of 'The Amanda Show' (1999–2002) for which received significant appreciation, according to the Daily Mail. She was born to a Jewish-Christian family in Thousand Oaks, California, on April 3, 1986. She also played Jennie Garth's sister on 'What I Like About You' from 2002 to 2006.
However, the actress made her film debut as Kaylee in 'Big Fat Liar' in 2002. She was most popular for her romantic movies and was widely appreciated for her role as Daphne Reynolds in 'What a Girl Wants' where she starred alongside with Colin Firth in 2003. In 2006, Bynes also acted alongside Tatum in the film, 'She’s the Man', that fetched around $60 million worldwide.

Though she had a great career, she suddenly announced her retirement from acting in 2010 when she was just 24. She tweeted, "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem, If I don't love something anymore I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first," she tweeted. "I've #retired," Bynes concluded. After the announcement, her last film, 'Easy A', was released in 2010 wherein she acted alongside Emma Stone and Penn Badgley.

Bynes was arrested in 2012 under the suspicion of DUI and was charged with two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run. However, she pleaded not guilty. Earlier, she was even diagnosed with both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. However, in 2013, the actress was arrested for throwing a bong out of a window of the 36th floor of her Manhattan apartment. Further, in 2014, she was once again arrested for DUI while driving a Mercedez Benz in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles. She was released on the same day for a $15,000 bail.
Bynes was placed under conservatorship
Bynes was placed under conservatorship in 2013. Her parents were keeping control of her finances and herself. At this point, she also claimed that her father had been abusive to her during her childhood. The actress also accused him of being 'incestuous' toward her. However, her parents denied all such allegations. The actress also stated, "My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me."
Moreover, in 2019, she went to a mental health facility. After recovering, she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in June 2019. In 2022, her conservatorship was terminated after nine years. A judge ruled that the legal arrangement was "no longer required." The ruling read, "She's done everything the court has asked over a long period of time. The court determines that the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist." Whilst, her attorney David Esquibias said, "Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary."
Was Amanda Bynes ever engaged?
Bynes was once engaged to Paul Michael in 2020. She wrote on her social media handle, "Engaged to tha love of my life." However, she did not reveal his identity at first. Later, Michael called off the engagement and eventually reunited in 2021. On April 28, 2021, she claimed that Michael was relapsing and even called healthcare workers for help.
"Paul told me that he stopped taking his medications. He vandalized his mom’s home. He broke all of her pictures and put salmon under her bed. His behavior is alarming, and I’m afraid of what he’ll do," said the actress. The duo called off their engagement again and eventually came back together in August 2022. Currently, she is on psychiatric hold after being found naked on streets.
