When will ‘All American’ Season 3 return? Here's what to expect from Spencer, Coach Baker and Beverly/Crenshaw rivalry
Get set to explore unanswered questions as the new season of ‘All American’ comes back. According to a report from Deadline, the cast and crew started production on Monday, September 28, 2020, after the Covid-19 break. Going by the normal schedule, the series would have returned this fall but the pandemic has delayed the release date and postponed it to 2021.
Executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll — who also penned down the first episode of Season 3 directed by Michael Schultz — recently shared the script of the new installment on Twitter and wrote: "Wish I could truly explain what it has done for my mental/emotional health to be finally prepping our 1st ep of season 3. I love this job so very much. And while production will be different & probably often difficult, I’ll b doing it with the BEST crew. Thk u all 4 coming back."

Where we left off?
The final episode of season two — titled 'Decisions' — was summarized as: “Billy makes a decision about his future that surprises everyone; Layla focuses on trying to get Coop a tour for the summer but isn’t having much luck; Asher has an opportunity to spend the summer with his mom but isn’t sure if he should go.”
In the end, Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) — who was dealing with his father Corey's (Chad L Coleman) death — made a tough decision and pledged to play his senior year of football at Crenshaw instead of Beverly Hills. What's more, Coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) also moved to Crenshaw along with Spencer to join the football team as the head coach. It's yet to be seen if Spencer can overcome his shoulder injury though.
What we'd like to see?
By the Season 2 finale, Olivia Baker (Samantha Logan) was struggling with drug addiction but Spencer's welfare check-in at her place made her realize she wasn't alone. Will the next season delve deeper into their strong connection and start a new relationship — one that fans have been demanding for a long time? Well, only time will tell.
Talking about relationships, her bother Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) got into a serious relationship with Simone (Geffri Maya). How long will the two last together? Moreover, Tyrone's sister Monique "Mo" Moore (Erica Peeples) was eyeing revenge from Coop (Bre-Z) and the consequences of that might bring an interesting twist to the story. Along with that, we can't wait to see if Coach Baker and Spencer can continue their winning streak in Crenshaw.
When is it returning?

The summary of the new season reads, "It’s been a long journey in just a short period of time for gifted high school football star Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), from his days as the breakout player at South Crenshaw High to becoming state champion with Beverly Hills High. His family life, personal relationships and athletic future all changed and grown in ways he never imagined."
"But after the rough year that followed that victory, Spencer made the tough decision to return to South Crenshaw High for his senior year with Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) by his side as the new head coach. Together, their plan is to bring home a football championship to save the school. However, in season three that may prove difficult as the high stakes of the Beverly/Crenshaw rivalry become very personal now that it’s friend versus friend and father versus son."
"Furthermore, the medical mystery surrounding Spencer’s injured arm will not only significantly affect his game on the field, but also his relationships off the field, as they all try to navigate a very complicated, secret-filled senior year at both Beverly and South Crenshaw."
‘All American’ Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on January 18, 2021. The CW announced the estimated schedule for its fall shows and the series is slated for the 8 pm to 9 pm time slot on Mondays. Going by the previous seasons, this one should also come with 16 episodes. If you're wondering when it will premiere on Netflix, you'll have to be patient. The series drops on the streaming site only once all episodes have finished airing weekly on The CW.
