SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Season 1 of Netflix and tvN's gripping K-drama 'Alchemy of Souls' has finally come to a tragic but exciting end. After the season finale premiered on August 28, fans went through a plethora of emotions through episode 20 as the story took an unpredictable turn. Knowing full well that there is another season left to the story that will premier in December this year, fans are left wondering what the plight of Jung So-min's Mu-deok will be as Go Yoon-jung will return as Naksu.

The 20-episode season 1 of 'Alchemy of Souls' follows the journey of an elite assassin, Naksu, whose soul is trapped inside the body of a servant, Mudeok, who is rather weak and frail in comparison. Set in Daeho, a fictional country, the show is a supernatural fantasy drama that follows the journey of young magicians who overcome their twisted fates due to a dark magic spell that allows souls to switch bodies. 'Alchemy of Souls' has been seeing a rise in its ratings from its beginning, and after what happened to Jang Uk in the finale, fans are now eagerly waiting for a new season. Various theories emerge after the season finale of 'Alchemy of Souls'

With the way Season 1 ended, fans of the 20-episode tvN drama are not too happy. The finale gave fans a lot to unpack and with the funny and romantic parts came some tragedic and emotional sequences that have left fans in tears. Some argue that the season's end was unsatisfactory, while several believe that the show can be presumed to have ended at Episode 19 while the final episode works more as a prequel to Season 2.

Fans have mixed reactions to the ending. Some argue that Jin Woo-tak got what he deserved by having Naksu kill him while she is in Mu-deok's body while others are not very happy with the fact that Cho-yeon witnessed her father's murder. Just like Naksu set out to kill her father's murderers, fans worry that Cho-yeon too will end up killing her own sister Mu-deok/Bu-yeon.

This definitely will change the equation between Jang Uk, Yul, Dang- go and Choyeon while some believe that this could possibly drive the newlywed couple - Dang-go and Choyeon - apart. Many were surprised by Jang Uk's tragic death at the hands of his lover - Mu-deok, while fans were relieved to learn that the King's Star had walked alive. Meanwhile, there still is a mystery around the women who were trying to save Mu-deok's/Bu-yeon's body with Naksu's soul still in it.

Fans are sharing their regrets, sorrows, and anticipation for the upcoming season after the tragic ending of Episode 20. One fan said, "Me trying to see who’s saving mudeok." Another asked, "SO YOU’RE TELLING ME WE’VE BEEN THROUGH 20 EPISODES AND BUYEON DIDNT GET TO MEET HER FAMILY???? WTFFFFFFFFFF." Meanwhile, one fan wrote, "MY CONDITION AFTER FINISHED WATCHING LAST EPS."

"I refused to believe the fact that we got a tragic ending for jang uk and mudeok when they were literally just being a lovely dovey couple minutes before this shit happened WTF TVN PAY FOR MY THERAPY COME ON," one tweet read. Someone else wrote, "Literally me during the last few moments of ep 20." A fan noted, "Alchemy of souls writers really made it so that season 2 of alchemy of souls becomes dark as fuck, i really thought this show would remain my happiness til the end. they even changed danggu and choyeon into cold-blooded auras i'm so heartbroken."
