PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: The Sharpe Family Singers sang 'Carry On My Wayward Son' by Kansas on the second round of 'America's Got Talent' qualifiers, which aired on NBC on August 29, 2023.

Judge Howie Mandel buzzed approximately midway through the group's performance, even though nothing overtly went wrong, which definitely irritated both the viewers and the in-house crowd.

Sharpe Family Singers' younger members grew up watching 'AGT', so they realize how important it is for them to be on the live event stage.

This week, they felt they had to take a chance so they opted to reverse their first performance and go theatrical with rock source material.

It was too much for Howie who pressed his red X buzzer during their performance, describing it as "corny" and reminiscent of something he'd see on a cruise ship.

Heidi Klum responded to Howie by declaring their vocals wonderful despite her reservations over the song choice. Sofia Vergara didn't feel like she was on a cruise, but rather at a church service, and she didn't think it was her favorite version of the song.

Simon Cowell agreed with Howie that they should have stayed in the musical theater lane, and noted that they are a wholesome act.

After watching the judges' reaction to the act, fans were unhappy with their feedback. On X, one fan wrote, "I am disappointed in ALL JUDGES!! SHARPE FAMILY WAS AWESOME!!! 10+ Song choice was great and they made it their own, with a message we need right now!!"

Another person chimed in, "Howie you were very rude to the Sharpe Family. No need to be so mean!"

One person added, "The Sharpe Family was AWESOME. 10+ EXCELLENT SING CHOICE AND MESSAGE...ALL OF JUDGES COMMENTS WERE WAY, WAY OFF!!"

Another viewer tweeted, "You complaint about Sharpe Family Singers was you felt like you were in a church?!?! They are far and above the most talented tonite. They are professionals, not amateur's, like the rest."

One fan also wrote, "Now Howie you are beginning to sound like Simon with some of your feedback to the contests."

Another angry fan wrote, "Shame on you Howie & Simon! Put the buzzers away ~ you put these people in these qualifying rounds so you should support them. It’s up to America to decide if they’re good enough to go forward from here. Props to all of them for having the courage to follow their dreams."

\One fan tweeted, "Howie and Simon seriously to tell a group to “Stay in Their Lane”!!! That isn’t what AGT is about!!"

One angry viewer added, "Stop it with the negative comments about musical theater, Howie and Simon. Those people know how to sing, and sing well. So STFU."
