'America's Got Talent' Voting Results: Double Dragon earn judges' vote for semifinals along with 4 other acts
'America's Got Talent' just concluded its live voting results show on Wednesday night, August 12, on the NBC network. American viewers were treated once again to an entertainment spectacle, along with the drama-filled results of who gets to go through to the semifinals from the pool of 11 contestants who performed yesterday night (August 11).
It was certainly a tough choice for the AGT voters, who had to pick from a list that contained singing acts like Double Dragon, Roberta Battaglia, Archie Williams and Shaquira McGrath, the daredevil act Bello & Annaliese Nock, the salsa dancers Simon and Maria, the animal circus act Pork Chop Revue, ukulele performer Feng E, sword swallower Brett Loudermilk, contortionist Frenchie Babyy, and the stand-up comedian Michael Yo. American voters were given the choice to save one contestant and towards the end, it was left up to the judges to decide who would get the last available slot in the semifinals. The injured Simon Cowell's place was once again reprised by replacement judge Kelly Clarkson, as he recovered from surgery following a horrific bike accident. Jury panel regulars Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel were all in attendance, however, along with the ever-smiling host Terry Crews.
To make matters even sweeter, we were also treated to performances from two former 'America's Got Talent' champions during this results episode. Last season's winner, the singer Kodi Lee, made a surprise appearance to perform a delightful piano-driven cover of Finneas's song 'Break My Heart Again'. Also appearing was the Season Nine winner, the magician Mat Franco, who wowed us once again with a phenomenal display of his dextrous card-matching skills, which he performed with the help of Heidi and Clarkson. Kodi's performance was soulful and highly emotive and he showed once again why America chose him as their number one talent in Season 14 last year.
Maybe it Kodi's presence, but an overwhelming number of singers managed to make it through to the semifinals from the existing pool of 11. Archie Williams, who was celebrating his new life as a free man after being falsely imprisoned, was the first singer to go through to the semifinals, as comedian Michael Yo and the father-daughter daredevil duo Bello and Annaliese Nock fell by the wayside. The next singer to go through was Shaquira McGrath, as she beat off competition from the contortionist Frenchie Babyy, who was also eliminated. The prodigiously talented young singer Roberta Battaglia also advanced, as the pigs trick act Pork Chop Revue and dancing duo Simon and Maria failed to make the cut. We then learned that the sword swallower Brett Loudermilk had been saved by American voters, which meant that only one semifinal slot was left for the singing twins Double Dragon and the ukelele virtuoso Feng E.
After some deliberation, the judges decided to put the singing sisters from Peru through, at the expense of the talented musician from Thailand. Heidi remarked that while Feng E was like the Jimi Hendrix of the ukelele, but she was more drawn to the infectious energy of Double Dragon. Sofia similarly felt that she had to go with Hispanic sisters Double Dragon, but Clarkson voted for Feng E's astonishing skills. But then Howie made it official with his vote for Double Dragon, which meant the AGT semifinalists thus far are Archie Williams, Shaquira McGrath, Roberta Battaglia, Brett Loudermilk and Double Dragon.
Make sure you tune in next Tuesday on NBC, as another batch of 11 contestants battle it out for five slots on the semifinals of America's Got Talent.
