"Will we see Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter make a cameo in 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7?" has been the question on fans' minds, ever since the return of Agent Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) in Episode 3: 'Alien Commies from the Future!' was confirmed in the promo.  While much of his role in this series is kept secret, there have been speculations that Atwell's Peggy will be more than just name-dropped in the episode.

Last we saw, Peggy was seen in a brief cameo in 'Avengers: Endgame' when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) travel back in time to retrieve the Tesseract. Prior to this, Peggy was also seen in a brief scene in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' while news of her death and the official  introduction of Sharon Carter as her niece was shown in 'Captain America: Civil War.' Considering these brief appearances in the MCU, it shouldn't come as a surprise if she does show up in the episode.

As far as her next appearance goes, she will be seen in 'Marvel's What If...? The D23 Expo last year gave fans a glimpse of what to expect by showing some footage from the upcoming animated series.  For starters, Atwell‘s Peggy Carter receives the Super Soldier Serum instead of Rogers and becomes Captain Carter after donning a Union Jack-themed costume and a shield. Atwell is confirmed to lend her voice in the series.

With Sousa coming in, it does seem like the agents have jumped time to the 1940s. The timeline and Sousa are the key reasons why fans have theorized a Peggy appearance. If it does indeed happen, then it means the news was kept a secret by ABC. However, Peggy is not the sole talking point. Sousa's return raises more than just a few questions, starting off with is there a connection between him and the 'space weapon" the Chronicoms are in search of.

The official synopsis reads: "A surprise leap forward in time has stranded Enoch in 1931 and landed the team in yet another unfamiliar decade. Now, in order to stop the chronicoms from launching their newest future-dismantling plan, the agents will have to infiltrate one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most secure bases. They won’t be able to succeed without help from a familiar face or two."

Note the important, "familiar face or two." Either we're looking at Peggy or the return of Enoch (Joel Stoffer) who failed to make it to the Zephyr in the previous episode. You can watch the promo here:
