'Adú' tells the heartwarming story of a six-year-old boy's quest to reach Europe having escaped his town in Cameroon, Africa. The movie also follows a father reconnecting with his daughter and a coast guard that has to face a furious crowd of sub-Saharan people who have started the assault on the fence. Directed by Salvador Calvo, these three stories are united by a central theme that drives our three protagonists ahead in life touching upon human suffering, immigration, and environmentalism. Plot

This drama from Spain balances three different stories, "including that of a six-year-old boy, an environmental activist, and a group of civil guards - that are linked by a common theme: immigrants attempting to cross the Strait of Gibraltar and risking their lives in the process."

Moustapha Oumarou debuts as Adú playing the title role. Director Salvador Calvo just happened to run into him when they were casting. According to reports, Moustapha was coached to memorize the script. 

Luis Tosar as Gonzalo

The Spanish star is perhaps the "most recognizable and versatile actors in Spain" and is known for his critically acclaimed roles in 'Cell 211', 'Take My Eyes', 'Sleep Tight', 'Even the Rain' and 'Mondays in the Sun'. Tosar has won 3 Goya Awards, which are considered as the Spanish equivalent of the Academy Awards. He has also won the Málaga Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 Málaga Spanish Film Festival.

Cervantes starred as the protagonist Emperor Charles V in the 'Carlos, Rey Emperador'. He is known for his roles in '1898, Our Last Men in the Philippines', which was also directed by Salvador Calvo, and 'La zona'. 

Anna Castillo as Sandra

Castillo is known for her role in 'Amar en tiempos revueltos', but it was in the role of Alma in 'El Olivo' for which she gained recognition winning a Goya Award for Best New Actress. The movie also stars Adam Nourou as Massar, who is known for his roles in 'Turf' and 'I'm All Yours'. Miquel Fernández as Miguel, Jesús Carroza as Javi, and Zayiddiya Dissou as Alika also star.

Creators

The film is written by Alejandro Hernández and directed by Salvador Calvo. According to reports, the movie is based on a true story that Calvo encountered during the filming of his feature film '1898, Our Last Men in the Philippines'. The director is known for 'Maras', 'Masala', 'Lo que escondían sus ojos', and 'El padre de Caín'
