ABC’s ‘Stumptown’ has only one episode left to conclude its current season and it’s going to be a life-changing one for television’s favorite PI Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders). Despite getting away with all her rather unethical acts for a long time under the pretext of her investigations, the upcoming finale episode is going to see her take the rap for a big crime.

In Episode 17 of ‘Stumptown’, Dex stumbles on shocking details concerning Benny’s death, which was a foul committed by the Department of Defense. On digging deeper, Dex learns that she hung up on Benny when he called her for the last time assuming he was going to ask her to marry him, whereas he wanted to inform her about the inner workings of the US Military by playing the whistleblower.

Obviously, Dex wouldn’t stop at that. Towards the end of the previous episode, she finds herself standing next to a dead body. The synopsis for Episode 18 reads, “To get justice, Dex takes matters into her own hands after finding herself at the forefront of a murder investigation where she’s the prime suspect.”

Meanwhile, the trailer shows her waking up in a hospital with handcuffs on. It is indicative of the fact that Dex was involved in a fight that landed her in the hospital and then, was framed for the murder. The synopsis further states: “Hoffman struggles to remain impartial in the investigation and could lose everything if he continues to help Dex. Elsewhere, Grey attempts to work on his budding relationship with his estranged father while a familiar face from the past makes a surprise visit on Stumptown."

Detective Miles Hoffman (Michael Ealy) has always had Dex’s back. However, trying to prove her innocence in a murder case could put his career on the line. Would Miles still be willing to risk it all?

The finale could also be expected to explore Grey McConnell’s (Jake Johnson) relationship with his father in depth. Grey’s father stood him up previously when he eagerly waited all evening to see his father like a little kid. Perhaps, the last episode could help us understand Grey’s complicated feelings for his father despite all that the latter put his son through growing up as with an alcoholic father.

‘Stumptown’ airs on Wednesdays on ABC.
