Episode after episode, ABC’s ‘Stumptown’ has managed to grasp our attention with its compelling plotline and the many intrigues as seen through the lens of its characters. In Episode 14 titled ‘At All Costs: The Conrad Costas Chronicles’, Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders) has a new case to investigate which brings her to the Tinsel Town.

Grey McConnell (Jake Johnson) agrees to go with her as he’s eyeing an antique car from the 1973 rally series, which is for sale in LA. To bring justice to her client whose script is being used by a production house for filming without her consent, Dex disguises herself as a writer first and then an actor in Hollywood.

Although Dex's investigation is faced with hiccups, she manages to get her hands on the client’s script from the sets of a film and threatens to use the evidence to sue to production house if they refuse to give credits to the writer along with 2 million dollars.

Another successful investigation by Dex calls for a celebration, but her mind is rather occupied by a letter that she’s been hiding from Grey, which could lead her to her long lost parents.

When Grey meets with the seller for his dream car, he comes to learn that his father is still alive and living in LA and that the car he is planning on purchasing once belonged to his father.

Both Grey and Dex decide to meet with their respective families, trying to make the best of the least ideal situation after a firebomb was thrown into their hotel room. Reuniting with his father and his new family helps Grey achieve a sense of clarity about himself, as he always feared he would turn out to be like his parent--a lost soul always drowned in alcohol to be responsible.

But Dex is left dumbstruck when she learns from her old guardian who she meets at her childhood home, that both her parents passed years ago.

Meanwhile, at Bad Alibi, Tookie (Adrian Martinez) hosts a party for Detective Miles Hoffman’s (Michael Ealy) mother on her birthday, going against Ansel Parios' (Cole Sibus) warning and behind Grey’s back.

Although the party helps Bad Alibi make five times the usual receipts, things go terribly wrong when Grey’s great-great grandfather’s gun goes missing, which he was awarded for his participation in the civil war.

As episode 15 concludes, we see ourselves wondering if Grey would still like to retain his alliance with Tookie following his recent treatment of Bad Alibi, which contrasts the owner's opinion.

‘Stumptown’ airs on Wednesdays on ABC.
