'Modern Family' Season 11 served up some highly emotional moments with its latest episode. Episode 11 'Legacy' sees the members of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker households spend quality time with one another, taking a break from their usual misadventures and constant bickering.

Claire (Julie Bowen) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) take a stroll down memory lane when Jay tells them to go through a few things from their childhood, to clear his godown.

The siblings decide to use the opportunity to prove that Jay was an inadequate parent, by collecting records from back in the day, which reflect their father's absence on several occasions.

Meanwhile, Phil (Ty Burrell) goes to visit his father, who was found wandering in a grocery store. A concerned Phil decides to recreate some of his childhood memories with Frank Dunphy, to ensure he isn’t feeling all lonely.

They hitch a car ride on the highway, eat at their favorite restaurant and even topple their broken vehicle trying to fix it.

However, Phil is guilty about not taking over the family business and asks Frank if he wanted another child, who would have been more responsible. His father, however, says he is proud of Phil and has no regrets.

On the other end, Claire and Mitch find a few records of Jay which shows that he was working parting time when they were kids. They’re shocked to learn that their father had taken up a night job to support them and pay his employees when his closet business wasn’t established.

Not only are Claire and Mitch shocked to learn the truth, but they also see themselves guilty for accusing Jay of being a "bad" parent. The episode, however, ends on an extremely heart-wrenching note, when Frank is revealed to be dead.

Episode 11 of 'Modern Family' Season 11 was undeniably one of the most emotional episodes we have witnessed in the series so far.

As another character gets written off the series, we wonder what awaits us in the upcoming episodes, as the sitcom nears its end. Episode 12 of 'Modern Family' Season 11 will air on January 22 on ABC.
