'A Charlie Brown Christmas' will be back on TV this holiday season after massive outrage over Apple TV’s acquiring of the ‘Peanuts’ holiday series catalog. The Tech giant acquired exclusive rights to all Peanuts-related media in October 2020, and it was announced that the holiday specials of the 'Peanuts' series will be discontinued from the network TV, available only for Apple TV subscribers. This decision drew major flak causing the streaming conglomerate to back down from their decision.

Later, PBS announced that 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' will be back on TV for the American audience on December 13. Here’s everything you need to know about the returning show.

Release date

The special one-night show will be broadcasted on PBS and PBS KIDS on December 13, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. local time / 6:30 p.m. CT. ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ will premiere on Apple TV on December 4.

Plot

The plot of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ revolves around Charlie not being happy during the festive season when he confides in his friend Linus. He visits Lucy’s psychiatric booth where he also tells her the problem and Lucy suggests a more active involvement in the holiday asking him to direct the Christmas play. But Charlie gets more discouraged when he encounters the massive commercialization of Christmas witnessing a competition between neighboring houses with who would put the jazziest lights and Christmas decor. Later while directing the play, Charlie decides to bring more character to it in order to establish a "proper mood" as he leaves to search for a Christmas tree.

Charlie finds a tree that is only a sapling, and rather sad looking but Linus suggests that after a proper decor, the tree will look lively. Charlie ends up taking the tree home and his friends help him with the makeover. In the end, Charlie finds out his tree to be looking magnificent as his friends shout ‘Merry Christmas’ and ‘hark’ and snow starts falling.

Creator

The 1965 animated special is created by Charles M. Schulz, maker of the 'Peanuts' series.
