The world's largest-known little family ‘7 Little Johnstons’ will hit our TV screens very soon with its eighth season on the TLC franchise. The Johnstons may be little, but the kids are all grown up since fans last caught up. This spring’s run of ‘7 Little Johnstons’ earned the series its highest ratings in three years and helped drive TLC to its highest-rated quarterly performance ever.

Release date

The series will premiere on Tuesday, December 29 at 8 pm ET/PT. After each new episode, viewers can get a behind-the-scenes look with the new digital original series ‘Inside the Episodes’, in which the Johnstons dish on all of the moments the cameras didn’t capture.

Plot

After over 20 years of marriage, Trent and Amber are looking for ways to spice things up and nothing is off-limits: pole dancing, an intimacy coach and even building a “love shack” on their lawn!

The relationship statuses in the Johnstons’ family have changed as the pandemic has hit and all the kids are back under one roof. Jonah has a new long-distance girlfriend and he’s considering moving to a different state to be closer to her. Anna is loving college, but the pandemic has forced her to move home for the time being. Meanwhile, Elizabeth is balancing her relationship with boyfriend Brice, as college courses coupled with a heavy nursing rotation are putting her at risk for burnout. Alex and Emma are still the youngest Johnstons, but they’re starting a whole new era as they enter high school.

Cast

The show will feature Trent and Amber Johnston and five of their children — daughters Anna, Elizabeth and Emma and sons Jonah and Alex — back under the same roof amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Trent works as a grounds supervisor at a local college in his family's hometown, Forsyth, Georgia, and is known at home and at work at “Mr. Fix-It.” He takes pride in renovating the family home and can make just about anything Amber or the kids dream up. Amber takes pride in keeping her family happy and healthy, and uses her positive attitude to teach her children how to overcome any challenge. She works to stay involved with her family and community, serving as the head of the local Parent-Teacher Association and Girl Scouts.

Trailer

"During this pandemic, we've got to find things to do. And one of those things to do are these viral videos," Amber says as the family of seven hilariously shows off their dance moves in several TikTok videos. Meanwhile, after over two decades of marriage, Amber and Trent are looking for ways to spice things up in their relationship. Amber is preparing to return to work full-time as a teacher — and anticipates that her height will be a topic of discussion amongst the students. "I figure the first week of school is to educate [the kids about] why I am little," she says. After several days, she opens up to her family about her reception in the classroom. "One little girl goes, 'Nobody shrunk her, she's just a midget.' Alright now, we don't say that word. That's a bad word."

As for the kids, Elizabeth is balancing college courses and her relationship with boyfriend Brice, Anna is adjusting to moving home from college due to the pandemic, Alex and Emma are preparing to enter high school and Jonah is feuding with the rest of his family amid his romance with his long-distance girlfriend, Ashley. "When Jonah's around Ashley, he's nicer," Amber says. "But around us, Jonah is a difficult individual. The wheels are being put in motion to start looking for places for Jonah to move out." Eventually, Amber and Trent have a sit-down conversation with their son about his behavior. "The motivation we're giving you is you need to be out of the house in three months," Trent says.
