Created by Robert Benabib and produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, military dramedy '68 Whiskey' made its debut on Paramount Network tonight. The show follows the adventures and misadventures of a group of multicultural women and men deployed as Army medics in Afghanistan.

The dark comedy earned quite a lot of praise on its opening night itself. "Congratulations to all of the cast & crew of @68Whiskey for an awesome series premiere! Looking forward to seeing how this season plays out!" And as the show gained itself fans, many even picked their favourite characters of the lot too - Sam Keeley's portrayal of Cooper Roback has many takers already. "Of course, this will probably change as the season progresses, but so far Alvarez [Cristina Rodlo], Davis [Jeremy Tardy] & Roback are taking the lead for my favourite characters on @68Whiskey! Although Holloway looks to be an interesting character as well!" said a fan.

"I do believe you have a winner here. Well done," said another. "OMG! AMAZING 1st episode of what's going to be an OUTSTANDING series!!! Thank you @paramountnet and the entire cast of #68WhiskeyTV," chimed in another viewer.

Many fans promised to return for the second episode. "Ok, #68WhiskeyTV  I’ll be back next week. I dug it."

While comparisons of '68 Whiskey' being similar to 'MASH' are prevalent - one even made by us - many viewers found the similarities entertaining. "Enjoying this new '68 Whiskey' show a lot. Feels like an updated version of 'MASH' with a bit of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'."

"Loved it! Interesting characters and just the right mix of drama and humour. We may have this generation's 'M.A.S.H'," pointed out another viewer.

At the same time, some viewers are unsure how they feel about the pilot episode but are ready for the second episode to make the story clearer. "Just watched #68WhiskeyTV not sure where I stand yet, though I’d be getting MASH instead I’m getting Grey’s Anatomy in Afghanistan. So we’ll see where episode 2 takes us."

'68 Whiskey' airs on Wednesdays at 10/ 9c on Paramount Network.
