1. Eddie Guerrero
The most important wrestler of the contemporary period, according to some, is Eddie Guerrero. Prior to his rise in ECW and WCW, he enjoyed enormous success in Mexico and Japan. Later, he switched to World Wrestling Entertainment, where he rose to the position of WWE Champion.
On November 13, 2005, the Latino Heat was found dead from heart failure. Later, in 2006, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
2. Owen Hart
The great and well-known professional wrestler Owen Hart was a high-flyer who won many titles in WWE, including the Intercontinental Championship. He was also a technical genius and had one of the greatest feuds in history with Bret Hart.
On May 23, 1999, he was about to make a spectacular, over-the-top entrance when the harness slipped, causing him to fall. He died shortly after that.
3. Chris Benoit
Chris Benoit was a professional wrestler who first gained popularity in Japan and his native Canada before becoming well-known in the US. He then went on to win the title of World Champion in the WWE and WCW.
However, Benoit's passing tarnished his reputation forever. On June 25, 2007, Chris was said to have been the aggressor in a double murder-suicide that also claimed the lives of his wife, his young son, and himself.
4. Brodie Lee
Brodie Lee was adored by his followers and his contemporaries alike. With victories over the TNT Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and several tag team titles, he was a champion in both AEW and WWE.
At the age of 41, the former Luke Harper tragically died from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on December 26, 2020.
5. Umaga
One of the top big names to participate in a WWE ring in the previous 20 years is Umaga. The Samoan Bulldozer character allowed him to win the Intercontinental Championship and represent Vince McMahon in the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23.
However, he first had some success as Jamal in '3-Minute Warning'. On December 4, 2009, the died as a result of drug usage, liver problems, and heart disease.
