'13 Reasons Why' season 3 introduces Liberty High's new student Ani Achola who could very well be Bryce Walker's killer

Replacing the show's former protagonist, Hannah Baker, will be Grace Saif's Ani Achola. But don't let her sweet English accent and newness to Liberty High fool you!

While fans are still reeling with the loss of Hannah Baker on the show, that's one less character to watch out for in the wake of Bryce Walker's murder. However, the suspicion we would have offered Hannah is now on new girl Ani Achola. And despite her thick British accent and newness to Liberty High, there's a high chance she is behind the mysterious murder of the show's prime villain, Bryce.

Based on the official trailer for season three that dropped a week ago, Katherine Langford's Hannah has been replaced by Grace Saif's Ani as the narrator. Ani's voiceover can be heard speaking to an "officer" about the incentive that Bryce's (Justice Prentice) peers had in killing him. But what Ani escapes mentioning, what we definitely can't overlook is the one scene in the trailer where Ani can be seen scrubbing off blood from a white t-shirt.

Given the show's track record or any other mystery for that matter, this is a clear indication of a mislead to blindsight us from the actual killer of the abuser who had raped Hannah and Jessica Davis (Alisha Boe) in season one. Season three's premise is the aftermath of his mysterious murder from a gunshot wound, and while Tyler Down is known to possess a gun already, we don't know what weapons Ani possessed or what she is capable of either.

So far all we know about Ani is that she is an African American student introduced to viewers in season three. She has a thick English accent, but it is unclear whether she is new to the school or town, or has always lived here but brought into prominence now. If the latter is the case, then there is definitely more going on than Ani is letting out. Don't fall for her concerned, innocent exterior which seems to be all good in helping solve Bryce's murder.

In the extended trailer, she can be seen visibly anxious, screaming and confronting Clay Jensen (Dynal Minette), "What did you do?" This makes her a sure shot as someone who is on the right side of things, but you never know. Ani could be one of the many girls whom Bryce has had sex with while they were drunk out of their mind or passed out at his secret shed behind the school — something that gives her all the more incentive to murder him.

In the trailer's voiceover, Ani can be heard telling Deputy Standall how all the students at their school, Liberty High, are connected by their secrets. Hence it's a given — she knows way more than someone with mere observational skills would. She talks about how this connection has changed the students forever, and how given the "right circumstances, right motivation, anyone could have done this". The "this" here refers to Bryce's murder and as Ani's voiceover says those words, it is she who appears on the screen. So buckle up, for all we know, Ani is the devil in disguise this season!

'13 Reasons Why' season three drops this August 23 on Netflix.
