‘Yummy’ set to become another Justin Bieber UK top 10 single after starting week at number 8
Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber looks set for another U.K. top 10 with his comeback single, 'Yummy'. The single was released January 3 and the video the following day on January 4, marking the singer's first solo release after his 'Purpose' album released five years ago, and it opened at No. 8 on the Official U.K. Charts Company’s First Look survey. The survey compiles sales and streaming activity from the past weekend.
'Yummy' will be Bieber’s 18th top 10 in the U.K. if it continues with its current momentum till the end of the week. It is Bieber's first track from his forthcoming fifth studio album, set for release in 2020.
'Yummy' still has a-ways to go before reaching No. 1, as Stormzy’s 'Own It', which features Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, is heading for a second week at the top position, according to Billboard.
Meanwhile, British singer Lewis Capaldi is securing a strong start to the chart year. He presently has two tracks in the top 10, with 'Before You Go' at No. 2 and 'Someone You Loved' at No. 6. Also, 'Bruises' sits just outside the top 10, at No. 12.
'Yummy' is believed to be a song about his love for wife and model, Hailey Baldwin, and marked Bieber's first solo release in more than two years. The music video features a pink-haired Bieber enjoying some fine dining, along with other guests of the restaurant.
Bieber sits alone initially and we quickly see guests join his table. The meals get more interesting and everyone is enjoying the company at the dinner table and the extravagant meals.
The table gets much larger a while in and Bieber later breaks out into some subtle Bieber-esque dance moves in the hall, followed by some backup dancers with the guests joining in the fun.
The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts are published late Friday, local time. You can watch the music video for 'Yummy' here.
