NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Roseanne Barr is in the news again but not for a very good reason. Recently, the 70-year-old actress, who was canceled a few years ago for her controversial comments, took to Instagram to share a short video of her along with a pal. The caption of the video was “Fight the Power.”

But the content of the post did not impress many of her followers, who believed she was “too drunk.” The social media clip showed her in a car enjoying herself and singing. It also showed her and her friend grooving strangely before a shop, attracting more than 7k likes and lots of comments.

‘Embarrassing yourself'

A critic wrote, “Hang it up your past your prime, your only embarrassing yourself and looking like a fool especially going on Tucker Carlson!!!!!!” Another one commented, “Congrats. You’re the joke now.” The third one said, “Damn you fell off and are pathetic now. Talk about a desperate sell out.” The fourth one shared, “Oh no! Mami is too drunk."

But there were some who adored her as well as one fan commented, “You’re certainly back!! You have been my favorite from way back when!! Friggin 🐖tried to get rid of you!! Putanna’s! The whole bunch!! You made all your fans very happy♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️.” Another one added, “My girl! @officialroseannebarr We're not worthy! We're not worthy!🧎‍♀️🤜🤛🤘👌 Roseanne Wants You! 🫵 ( serve you right to listen) 🔥❤️🔥 You rock sis! Glad you're back at it! I'll be watching!”

The Emmy-winning comedian’s latest post comes as she returns to TV with ‘Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!’ She lost her show, ‘Roseanne Revival', after calling former president Barack Obama’s ex-advisor Valerie Jarrett the by-product of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes”. She, however, issued an apology later, saying, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter.”

But it did not help as actress Sara Gilbert tweeted, “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.”

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey reacting to her post, added, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

‘But I forgive everybody’

At the time, Barr did not take the criticisms in a good way as she reportedly shared, “I can’t believe what they did, with all the pain that I went through to bring the show back. And it didn’t faze them to murder my character, either. They s— on my contribution to television and the show itself. But I forgive everybody. I started thinking that God took me out of there to save me. And once I started thinking that way, I was, like, a lot better off.”

Recently the veteran compared her situation to Dave Chappelle who also found himself embroiled in a controversy recently. She added, “The people that he does his jokes for, the people he performs for always back him, so that’s the difference between him and me and other comics. He always has the backing of the people on Netflix.

“They always stand up for him, and come to the floor for him. That makes him different from all rest of those who don’t get that. I didn’t get that. Other comics don’t get that, so he’s very privileged in that that he does get that.”
