Spoilers for 'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 7 'The Beating'

This week, one of Yellowstone's most rooted for couples finally saw their relationship meet fruition. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) asks Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) for his hand in marriage after daddy John Dutton approves of their union.

It has been a long time coming especially since there is hardly any doubt that the two are made for each other. Together, they have been through a lot and it is since Season 2 that the show has been setting this up for a while. This was a cause of celebration for fans of Beth and Rip who have been rooting for them since Season 1.

"You might be “in love”, but you aren’t Rip and Beth “in love”," tweeted a fan.

The scene that saw Beth propose to Rip was a very emotional one as they made promises to each other for a lifetime and more. "When rip said to Beth 'you’re all I need' I cried," tweeted another overwhelmed fan.

However, there are some complaints about a lot of romance this season on 'Yellowstone'. Being a Westen drama, the show has pretty much remained consistent on delivering the exaggerated, over the top life of the Duttons. And so it might be not all that surprising for some viewers to find it exhausting for the show to adapt romance in its storyline. "Anyone else thinks that there’s an abundance of romantic scenes this season? Especially with Rip and Beth? It slows the showdown for me and I find myself having to skip through those scenes. Especially the Rip and Beth scenes, they’re so forced and drag on. But I always skip through Beth scenes," a fan shared their grievance on Reddit.

With seven episodes in, the latest season was only setting its players in position without moving forward much. And fans say the (over)use of romance is helping no one. "It’s a bit much and I think Beth and Rip are sexy af, however, I would like a bit more plot this season. I’m so disappointed in this season. :/ "another commented on Reddit.

We are of the opinion that this is a shortsighted perspective to Yellowstone's storyline in the long run — an essential element in Beth and Rip's lives together and as individuals. Considering how important both the characters are, it is shallow to view their relationship just a genre change. And we're glad to know many think this way. "I enjoy the Rip and Beth scenes. They are my favorite characters and I like seeing the softer side of her. I think it adds to her character development."

"The ones with Beth and Rip are really nice, its developing both of the characters really well," concurred another.

'Yellowstone' airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET/ PT on Paramount Network.
