The Season 3 finale of ‘School Spirits’ dropped on March 4 on Paramount+, and if you’re still replaying that last scene in your head, you’re not alone. The episode, titled ‘Dawn of the Deb,’ wrapped up the latest chapter of the supernatural teen mystery. Before the finale even aired, series star Kristian Ventura warned fans in an interview with TechRadar that the cliffhanger would have people “breaking their phones.” Not entirely wrong, considering fans found out Maddie’s mom, Sandra, is now the host body for Van Heidt. For anyone new to the hallways of Split River High, the show is about a teenager named Maddie, played by Peyton List.

One day, she wakes up stuck in the afterlife, which would already be a lot to process, except she also can’t remember how she disappeared in the first place. So instead of worrying about algebra tests or prom drama, she’s piecing together clues about her own vanishing. As Maddie inches closer to answers, she uncovers buried secrets, half-truths, and some seriously suspicious behavior from people she once trusted. It’s like trying to solve a puzzle where the picture keeps changing. Season 3 didn’t hold back. Relationships got messy, loyalties were tested, and a few revelations landed like a punch to the gut.

And that finale? Let’s just say it didn’t tie everything up with a neat little bow. It left threads hanging. So naturally, the big question now is: Will there be a Season 4? At the moment, there’s no official renewal announcement from Paramount+. But fans can take a breath as the finale just aired. Networks and streaming platforms rarely rush to make next-season declarations the same week a finale drops. Interestingly, in a recent conversation with TV Insider, executive producers Oliver Goldstick, Megan Trinrud, and Nate Trinrud hinted that they’re not exactly winging it when it comes to the show’s future.

“Luckily, we bake these things in the writers’ room with the idea and where it could go. Like, we’re never trying to kind of write ourselves into a corner,” Nate stated. “We can’t tell you the secrets — you’d have to join the Split River afterlife — but we are very excited for what could possibly be ahead if we are so lucky to get renewed.” What makes a potential fourth season feel plausible isn’t just the fan chatter. It’s the way Season 3 ends. The story doesn’t feel complete; it feels paused. And if this next chapter does happen, some viewers are already wondering whether it might serve as the final stretch for Maddie’s story. That’s pure speculation, of course. But the tone of the finale of the latest season makes it seem like the show is building toward something big. For the moment, there’s no green light, but there’s also no reason to panic. If anything, the creative team sounds ready to keep going if given the chance.
