WREXHAM, UNITED KINGDOM: Will Ferrell was seen enjoying a beer with football supporters while watching the local team, which is co-owned by Ryan Reynolds, maintain their winning streak in the National League on his first trip to Wrexham. The photographs shared on social media showed Ferrell having a drink in The Turf Bar which was featured in the Disney+ documentary 'Welcome to Wrexham' about the north Wales club.

The 55-year-old was also spotted on the field at the Racecourse Ground to watch the team defeat Wealdstone FC 3-1 in a National League game. "Just Will Ferrell having a pint in the Turf" is how one resident captioned a picture of the moment they encountered the movie star in their neighborhood bar.

'Hi, this is Will Ferrell and it’s my first time here'

The 55-year-old also recorded a video of himself on the field for the club's official Twitter account. The comedic actor teased fans by bringing the camera up close to his face for about 20 seconds while feigning to "fix my hair" in front of the camera. Ferrell teasingly asked, "Are we recording?" He then pauses for a while before finally saying, “Hi, this is Will Ferrell and it’s my first time here. Where are we again? Wrexham. I’m really excited to see the match and I’ll be honest with you, I’m a little nervous.”



 



 

As per Daily Mail, Reynolds was asked about the rumors that Ferrell was eager to travel to Wales and visit the club when he first appeared on BBC's 'The One Show' in early 2022. Additionally, Reynolds hinted at a prospective "pub crawl" with Ferrell while saying that the Hollywood superstar was a huge football lover. He said, "Will's a massive football fan."

"He has a piece of the LA club, LAFC, and he'd love to come out to Wrexham. I'd love to bring him here," he added."I think he'd be blown away by the stadium - the Racecourse ground is one of the oldest international stadiums on earth, and certainly the club Wrexham FC is one of the oldest on earth. He's pretty enamored by history, and also - he's Will Ferrell! How much fun would it be to have a wander around on a little pub crawl throughout Wrexham with Will Ferrell?" he further said

Reynolds and McElhenney purchased the club in 2021

Ferrell and Reynolds worked together in 'Spirited', a Christmas movie released in 2022. Since Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney purchased the club in February 2021, Wrexham has grown accustomed to welcoming Hollywood royalty. In the National League, the fifth tier of English football, the team is currently in second place.

The fourth-round loss to Sheffield United by a score of 3-1 marked the end of Wrexham's fantastic FA Cup journey. The outcome keeps Wrexham in second place and increases the pressure on Notts County, who are currently in first The club's meteoric rise to popularity in the football world has been astounding. Prior to Reynolds and McElhinney's purchase, the team had been mired in the anonymity of non-league play.
