The success of 'Alien: Earth' brings a renewed season of the hit sci-fi series. It also brings up the possibility of a crossover with the iconic 'Predator' franchise in the upcoming season. For now, much about 'Alien: Earth' season 2 is kept under wraps, and series creator Noah Hawley had a rather dull response to a potential crossover.

Appearing on the SmartLess podcast, Hawley revealed that he was impressed with 'Prey' and 'Predator: Badlands', but he had no plans of combining the two franchises. At this stage, the Xenomorphs are the only predators featured on 'Alien: Earth'.

"No, not onto the show, I don't think," he said. "I think Dan Trachtenberg, who made 'Prey' and has made the 'Badlands' movie — you know, I loved 'Prey.' I think he's doing a great job with that franchise. He clearly has a plan there. I've met Dan once, we're not kind of coordinating any of that stuff. So, it's not really my plan to do it."

In season 2, he added, "I wouldn’t read too much into that. I don’t have a destination in mind," per THR. "I don’t know how long it will take me to get there. It’s been such an amazing act of play for me to enter this franchise and bring my own ideas to it. And just like with Fargo, I think, 'Who am I kidding?' As long as they let me tell stories in this tone of voice, I’m going to tell stories in this tone of voice."

Hawley's take comes as a damp squib for those eager to see an Alien vs Predator face-off in season 2. That he lavished rich praise on Trachtenberg shows there is a clear distinction, and the two franchises would not be having a crossover. Meanwhile, the sequel to 'Alien: Romulus' is in development, and it remains to be seen if there will be an intersection with the 'Predator' franchise.

'Earth' is the first series in the sci-fi horror franchise and is set in 2120 when a research vessel crashes on Earth. The accident releases Xenomorphs and other interplanetary threats and follows a group of synthetic hybrids labeled the 'Lost Boys'. The series is a prequel to 1973's 'Alien,' and the events of the show are set two years before the first film. 'Alien: Earth' season 1 is available to stream on Hulu. At the time of writing, there is currently no release date for 'Alien: Earth' season 2 at the time of writing.
