SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: Rebel Wilson opened up about her awkward encounter with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on 'Watch What Happens Live (WWHL) with Andy Cohen'. Wilson said Prince Harry "could not have been nicer," but his wife, Meghan Markle, came across as being more icy.

The 'Bridesmaids' star, 43, claimed that Markle, 41, was "not naturally warm" and that she is unsure of the reason why the duchess was cold toward her; nevertheless, savvy fans think they may have discovered the explanation. In a video clip from the BAFTA Awards that was recently discovered, Wilson can be seen making fun of Harry and Meghan's 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview while hosting the 2022 ceremony. Wilson stated, "Our next package is for Outstanding British Film. From drama to horror to fantasy, Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all." The actress Emma Watson was seen gasping in disbelief at the joke as the camera then cut to the star-studded audience.

Wilson added, "Unfortunately, that's not nominated in this category, but some incredible films are. Let's take a look at some of the most outstanding British films this year." Although it is uncertain if Rebel saw Harry and Markle before or after her BAFTAs speech, this hasn't stopped fans of Harry and Markle from speculating that Wilson's joke was to blame for their awkward encounter.

Many have reacted to the BAFTA speech on Twitter with one person writing, "Rebel Wilson, you seem like a smart girl. And hosting the BAFTA's is a big deal, & likely memorable as host. Don't remember what you said? Here to help! Meghan Markle wasn't 'naturally warm' to you because you said this about her roughly 2 months prior."

Another person wrote, "Amnesia! Meghan never done anything to this woman but she has chosen to smear her."  A third person wrote, "@RebelWilson do you remember what you said about Meghan or you have a selective memory? @RebelWilson you must apologize to MM. Karma is coming your way just wait and see." 

What did Rebel Wilson say about meeting the Sussexes?

Wilson stated in an interview with WWHL that she and her mother Sue Bownds met the royal couple through a common friend. She noted that while Harry "could not have been nicer," Markle "was not as cool," she continued, "Meghan wasn't as naturally warm."

Wilson acknowledged that Markle's icy tone might have stemmed from her mother asking her some private questions. She said, "My mum being Australian asked her all these slightly rude questions like, 'Where are your kids?' and things like that."

Following the clip of Wilson's WWHL interview becoming viral on social media, Markle has gotten support from her fans. One fan wrote, "I liked Rebel Wilson until I saw this in WWHL. She can go fuq herself all the way back to Australia, now. We do not tolerate MM slander or disrespect. M&H are our royalty."

"Seriously fk you Rebel Wilson for trying to paint Meghan as mean when you admit your mother was asking her rude questions. Then going out of your way to say Harry was very nice. Thanks to Andy for calling it out," another fan wrote. "Name one Rebel Wilson box office hit in which she was the main character! Not part of an ensemble cast but the leading lady. Exactly! But people wanna come for Meghan Markle. And maybe Meghan didn’t appreciate the questions from Rebel’s mom and her defenses went up," this other fan wrote.
