JUNEAU, ALASKA: 'Sweet Tooth' Season 3 has officially dropped on Netflix, revealing more secrets about the origins of the virus and the hybrids.

When Dr Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar) first encounters Gus (Christian Convery) in 'Sweet Tooth' Season 2, he is astonished to meet a hybrid who can speak. He then joins Gus on his perilous journey to Alaska.

Dr Singh undergoes substantial character development throughout the series. In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 3, viewers witness Dr Singh's transformation as he becomes cold and somewhat heartless, particularly toward hybrids.

He turns his back against Gus, a hybrid he once liked. Throughout 'Sweet Tooth' Season 3, viewers are kept on edge, wondering if Dr. Singh would go as far as to kill Gus.

Why did Dr Aditya Singh betray Gus in Season 3?

It all began when Dr Singh stumbled upon Dr James Thacker's (Joel Tobeck) journal, which contained cryptic references to a mysterious cave and a sacred tree.

Intrigued by the possibilities, Dr Singh delved deeper into the journal's contents, hoping to unlock the secrets that could lead to a cure for the virus.

He heard Thacker’s voice saying, “All was unlocked when I sacrificed the deer." He also came across a picture of a deer sacrificed outside the cave. This led him to believe that he had to sacrifice Gus, who is part deer and part human, to halt the virus outbreak.

In a state of delusion, he began to believe that he was humanity's savior and that it was his destiny to enter the cave to kill Gus and eradicate the virus.

His guilty conscience weighed heavily on him, yet he remained resolute in taking one final risk to eradicate the virus. He did not even hesitate to consider the idea of killing Gus. This came as a shock to viewers.

In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 3 Episode 8, as the events unfold, Mrs. Zhang (Rosalind Chao) gives a knife to Dr Singh and instructs him to kill Gus. Dr Singh, feeling reluctant, approaches Gus to kill him and save humanity.

However, he experiences a change of heart and, instead of carrying out the order, he stabs Zhang's men, creating an opportunity for Gus to escape.

When Zhang retrieves the ax from the sacred tree in a mysterious cave, she exposes everyone to the poisonous sap known as the 'Blood of the Earth,' the source of the H5G9 virus.

As they all start convulsing and collapsing to the ground, Gus decides to burn the tree, shaped like a deer, in a bid to halt the outbreak and save humanity. This act reverses the spread of the virus and brings an end to the Sick on Earth.

When the cave begins to collapse, Dr Singh moves Gus away to protect him from falling rubble. However, in the process of saving Gus, Dr. Singh himself gets caught in the rubble and is ultimately killed.

It appears that Thacker's journal hinted at sacrificing the sacred tree, which resembled a deer, rather than an actual deer. This is evident by the fact that burning the tree led to the eradication of the virus.
