NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Martin Hyde, the general manager of a New York City-based Indian restaurant Dillons sued both Gordon Ramsay and 'Kitchen Nightmares' for $620,128 (£500,000).

He claimed that the treatment he got on the show ruined his career.

Martin appeared in 'Kitchen Nightmares' Season 1. The blame for the restaurant being problems with menus, staff, and management was all put on Martin's head.

Daily Mail reports Martin claiming he was "singled out as a scapegoat" for the restaurant's problems that were discovered after Gordon and his crew walked in.

Martin claims to have no role in the restaurant's incapabilities as he was the general manager.

"Being ridiculed by Gordon Ramsay on TV has wrecked my life," claimed Martin.

As a general manager, Martin was responsible for booking shows and events for the restaurant's cabaret bar and was not responsible for the working of the kitchen, filled with rotten and infested food.

According to the reports, Martin moved from Blaham, South London to New York. After being furiously called out in the show, Martin lived in fear of being recognized as "that loser from Ramsay Kitchen show."

"My reputation is in tatters and nobody wants to employ me. I've only managed to watch it once - because it is like watching myself getting mugged," said Martin.

Ramsay allegedly called out Martin "lazy" on the camera. The former general manager claimed, "Gordon completely assassinated my character."

Martin Hyde calls out 'Kitchen Nightmares' for hiring extras for 'fake' scenes

Martin did not just stop after suing Gordon and his show 'Kitchen Nightmares.' But he also called out the entire team for creating a fake scene.

According to the reports, Martin claimed that the scenes were "faked" for the sake of cameras. Substantial changes were made and the actors were hired to make the restaurant look packed with satisfied customers.

Martin claimed that he was told by the producers to lie down and rest so that they could make him look like a "lazy idiot" on the camera. "I'd love people to be able to see the unedited footage," claimed Martin.

"Gordon called me a fake, but the whole show is a fake," said Martin as he slammed 'Kitchen Nightmares.'

Is 'Kitchen Nightmares' Season 1 featured restaurant Dillons still open?

Martin was the general manager at Dillon that was owned by an Indian man Mohammad. Martin left the restaurant after he was allegedly accused of being 'lazy' and was blamed for all the misconduct.

Dillons was later rebranded as Purnima and shown to be doing well in Season 2. However, Dillons aka Purnima failed to run for a long time.

According to Reality TV Updates Dillons aka Purnima closed in 2009, and as of 2023 the place is occupied by The Grisly Pear.

'Kitchen Nightmares' Season 8 to release on September 25 at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX.
