Lionel Richie and Katy Perry split over Kayleigh Clark

Kayleigh, a country girl living on a chicken farm in Mississippi, performed Garth Brooks in front of 'American Idol' 2023 judges. Shortly after Kayleigh took the stage, the aspiring singer bonded with Luke over hunting and fishing. After her performance, she was praised by Lionel and Luke. However, Katy didn't think Kayleigh's performance was very good and commented that the song was "too quiet." Katy also said that although Kayleigh has a beautiful voice, it doesn't "fill the room." Luke, on the other hand, was thrilled with Kayleigh's raspy vocals and said that with a little coaching, he can imagine the 17-year-old in the top ten. Meanwhile, Luke predicted, "I think that girl is gonna be Top 10." Katy countered Luke, "If she doesn't bring that top gear - no, she ain't."

Kayleigh Clark is going to Hollywood

Despite Katy saying no to Kayleigh, she is going to Hollywood. Luke and Lionel said 'Yes' to Kayleigh. Meanwhile, social media users are seemingly not impressed with Katy's reaction to Kayleigh's performance. They took to the comment section of Kayleigh's audition video and wrote, "Katy a hater." Another user added, "No matter what anyone says, keep singing! Your voice is beautiful and is going to take you so far! New fan!!! 😍😍😍." Another user said, "She did so good, but Scary Perry letting the not strong go by and this girl had a no?! Seriously!" Another user commented, "Why is Katy such a biotch this season? Not liking her at all this far. @katyperry @americanidol." Another user penned, "It’s hilarious listening to katy try to convince us she’s not ready after they just sent the two singers before her through."
