NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Bethenny Frankel is spilling the beans on her decade-long divorce from her now ex-husband Jason Hoppy. The duo publicly revealed their separation in December 2012 and subsequently filed for divorce in January 2013.
The couple faced a prolonged and contentious legal battle over custody and finances, eventually settling in 2016. Their divorce was not officially finalized until January 2021.
During the latest episode of her iHeart Radio podcast, 'Just B Divorced with Bethenny Frankel', which dropped on Friday, April 12, 'The Real Housewives of New York' alum openly discussed her divorce. The reality TV star recently shared a clip from her new podcast on her Instagram page as well.
"I’ve never told this story and I had no idea the effect it would have on my emotional state. I’m definitely going through it. My new podcast series Just B Divorced is available now — listen wherever you podcast.🎧🎙️," she wrote in the caption of the post.
She started the video by saying, "So I want to talk about this divorce podcast that I have just launched. It was something that I was just sitting in front of the podcast microphone and I don't even know why I just started talking about this. I haven't talked about this and I have never fully talked about this and I have never really shared the entire story from the very beginning."
Regarding her divorce, Bethenny said, "The only thing that got me through that horrendous divorce that is by far the worst experience of my life while I was in it. One mile at a time, thinking about it, the miles go back and forth. You feel like you're at seventeenth mile and then get pulled back to the second mile and the only thing that got me through is that one day I'm going to be able to help other people."
She added, "It is the biggest torture of my life. There is no aspect divorce custody, money, or prenup, there is no aspect except for physical abuse, the only thing I didn't experience. Every other single thing I have experienced."

‘RHONY’ alum Bethenny Frankel hopes her story can help others
Bethenny Frankel expressed her desire that sharing her story could be beneficial to others. She voiced her hope that her experiences might serve as a source of support and inspiration for those confronting similar challenges.
"Being a woman who speaks out about things that happened that other women are going through is really important," she said. Bethenny further added, "Like, it used to be the only thing that kept me going during this divorce to say 'One day, I will hopefully get out of this and be able to help somebody else.' "
The Bravo star went on to say, "The power struggle, the manipulation, there's so many things that go on. And ... I feel that there's a responsibility to tell the story of what the f--- went down."
The mom of one stated that she found the process of getting a divorce to be even more challenging than experiencing death.
"I experienced someone very close to me dying, and it was really horrific. But nothing will ever be, in my entire life, as torturous as my divorce. ... It was by far the worst experience of my life," she continued.
When did Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy get married?
In March of 2010, Bethenny and Jason officially became husband and wife as they tied the knot at the luxurious Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City. Their wedding marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives as they embarked on the journey of marriage together.
