'Ban propagandists': 'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg slammed for calling ban on AR-15 rifle after Nashville school shooting
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who has been a strong advocate against the ban on the AR-15 has called for its ban following the Nashville school shooting. The 67-year-old said during the panel's discussion on Wednesday, March 29, amid the rise of the school shooting and gun violence.
Shooter Audrey Hale, 28, stormed into the covenant school with around 10 am on Monday and fatally gunned down six people, including three nine-year-old children. Goldberg said during the discussion that the AR-15 style rifle "needs to go." "until that conversation could be had, nothing is going to happen," she added. However little did she know the gun used during the massacre was not AR-15-style rifle and in fact the shooter was wielding two "assault-style rifles" and a pistol.

What did Whoopi Goldberg say?
"Let’s start with this. The AR-15-style rifle needs to go, period. Period," Goldberg told her fellow panel and the audience on 'The View'. "You cannot hunt with it. There’s nothing left after you shot it. We all know what it does. Until that conversation can be had, nothing is going to happen, that's the issue," she continued.
The 67-year-old repeated that the issue is "that damn rifle!" However, her statement was brutally mocked by internet users, who pointed out that the gun used during the rampage was not an AR-15-style rifle and that she was using the tragedy as an excuse to bring up gun politics.
What were the guns used in 'The Covenant School' shooting?
Trans shooter Hale was wielding two 'assault-style rifles' and a pistol when she broke into The Covenant School and murdered 9-year-old students Hallie Scruggs, Evelyn Dieckhaus, and William Kinney, along with custodian Mike Hill and substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, both aged 61, and headmistress Katherine Koonce, 60.
The firearm reportedly used in the Nashville massacre was not an "AR-15" or a derivative of one. It was a KelTec 2000, which fires 9mm, one of the most common rounds in handguns. Hale was shot dead by officers less than 15 minutes after open firing that killed six people.
'Murder is also illegal!'
Internet users fumed over Goldberg's lack of knowledge about the shooting while calling her out on using the tragedy to promote her personal propaganda. One user wrote, "Who's gonna tell her that the gun used wasn't an AR 15. It was a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 9mm PCC. Another seconded, "Hypothetically lets say we ban the AR-15. Then what happens with next mass shootings. This time with a handgun? At what point does it stop with these liberals' takeover of our rights? It's a slippery slope once you give in to progressive liberals demands." A third claimed, "Ban propagandists." "Rifles kill about the same number of people every year as hands and feet in America. That's *combined,* Whoopi," read a tweet. Another user questioned, "Is there some reason why Whoopi Goldberg’s Demand for the removal of AR-15’s should be any more important than the parents of the deceased children,or law enforcement,or any other citizen!!!" A tweet read, "Murder is also illegal. She ignored law."
