'Whole Lotta Red': Kanye West and Playboi Carti's 'Go2DaMoon' fails to impress as fans call it 'trash'

'Go2DaMoon' features on Playboi Carti's sophomore studio album 'Whole Lotta Red' but both the artists are facing heavy criticism from fans

Playboi Carti finally released his long-awaited album 'Whole Lotta Red' on Christmas, but it looks like it isn't receiving the love that was expected. A follow-up to Carti's 2018 LP 'Die Lit', the new album features special guest contributions from Kanye West, Future and Kid Cudi while it was produced by Pi’erre Bourne, Art Dealer, F1lthy, Juberlee, Richie Souf, Wheezy, and more.

'Whole Lotta Red' consists of a generous 24 tracks including the collaborative tracks 'Go2DaMoon' (featuring Kanye West), 'M3tamorphosis' (featuring Kid Cudi) and 'Teen X' (featuring Future).

In 'Go2DaMoon', Kanye's verse includes lines like, "She ugly hot. Like a chick that call you to borrow. Five hunnid, then promise she gon' pay you back tomorrow. Then left with a scammer with a Gucci hat from Marshall's. Slept with him, then woke up, saw his watch was a Fossil."

Fans seem to have mixed opinions about the album. While some have zero appreciation for the album except Kanye's singing, others seem to like all the other songs except Kanye's verse — the latter seems to be more evident.

"....why the f**k did playboi carti let kanye spit a verse like that," said one. "I liked the kanye one but i would not be lying if i said this wuz overhyped," says a fan while another writes, "Some good beats.. loved kanye song that’s about it other than that it’s." 

"I prolly like 3 songs off this album... the rest was a**.. I should’ve known when I seen kid kudi and Kanye on the album," shared a fan. Another said, "The whole go2damoon is trash."

Another fan expressed, "I really never heard a kanye verse that bad in my life."

"Aint no way kid cudi and kanye walked outta the studio like 'damn that s**t hard,'" added another fan.

Either way, whether it is 'Go2DaMoon' or the 'Whole Lotta Red' project in general, it is not looking too good for the album, which was highly anticipated ever since it was first teased in August 2018 in a video where Carti discussed his next album and gave it the title after the release of 'Die Lit'. 

Back in June, Playboi Carti told The FADER that 'Whole Lotta Red' could have dropped already, only that he's "just trying to top s**t". "I might make the hardest song ever tomorrow,” he had said. So, considering it has taken time to put the songs together and that it includes big names in hip-hop, it is understandable that fans may have had high expectations.
