'That's a crazy thing to say': Hayley Williams reveals Taylor Swift wanted to 'be like Carole King' at 19
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hayley Williams has shared that her pal Taylor Swift wanted to be like Carole King in her teen years. The ‘Cinnamon’ singer during her latest interview told that when they were just entering into the industry, the pop star wished she could make it as big as her legend King. "When we were 19, [Swift] told me — she was a country singer at that point — that she wanted to be like Carole King," Williams recalled. "And I was like, 'Whoa, that's a crazy thing to say,' you know? Because we were kids. And I'll be damned, this woman, she's crossing genres and bleeding over into other aspects of pop culture, and she's helping to shape it at the very least."
Hayley Williams is all set to feature on the first night of Swift’s 'The Eras Tour', and also talked about her to be released LP ‘This Is Why'. Her rock band Paramore released its latest single 'C'est Comme Ça', last week, whereas, ‘This is Why’ is scheduled to hit the charts via Atlantic Records on February 10. Hayley called the opportunity to perform on opening March night "a big deal," and meanwhile Swift reacted by saying it was "such an honor." "We came up alongside each other as Nashville teenagers writing our own music, so it feels insanely special to kick off the tour together nearly two decades later. I just remember being constantly floored and inspired by their writing, originality, and artistic integrity," Swift told Billboard.

The ‘Blank Space’ singer added, "Hayley is such a riveting performer because she's so multifaceted — bold and playful and ferocious and completely in command. It's a dream come true to join forces like this." Swift has openly expressed her admiration for Carole King, and one such instance was recorded in 2021 when the 33-year-old artist kicked off the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony with a rendition of the classic, 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?' It was of course her tribute to King, who was among the inductee class, reports People.
"Dancing around the living room in socked feet to the sounds of Carole's soulful voice. Her songs speak to the true and honest feelings that everyone has felt, is currently feeling, or hopes to feel one day," Swift said during the event. "So it is only right for them to be passed down like precious heirlooms from parents to children, older siblings to younger, lovers to each other," she added.
