'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?': Will Forte plays for charity but fans say celebrities should 'just donate'
'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' returned to television last week (April 8) with a celebrity-led edition. The show returned as a limited series as part of its 20th-anniversary edition wherein all participating celebrities will donate whatever they take home to a charity of their choice.
Last week saw actor Eric Stonestreet, fresh off the 'Modern Family' series finale, appear on the premiere episode of the game show. Determined to donate the prize money to his sister Mauria's charity for autistic kids based out of Kansas City, the star walked off with $1,25,000 after answering 11 out of 15 questions.
Joining in on the episode after Eric's exit was actor Will Forte. Now the new edition of the show allows celebrities to bring in the smartest person they know to accompany and help them throughout the game for the first ten questions. On being asked who Will brought along by host Jimmy Kimmel, he responded, "This was a no-brainer. The smartest person that I know is my dad," and the spotlight shone on Reb Forte who was sitting right behind Will. Reb also revealed that his full name is Orville Willis Forte III. He also revealed Will's full name is Orville Willis Forte IV. The revelation of the night came when he mentioned that his son is engaged.
"I was in my room with wet hair eating cheetos out of a bowl with chopsticks when will forte announced he was engaged on a celebrity version of who wants to be a millionaire. @DJWindows96 was there. hopefully this will be erased from my memory one day," tweeted a fan of the show. Will Forte will continue playing the game on this week's episode of 'WWTBAM' and all the money that he will raise will go to Pangea Network that helps in empowering youth in Kenya and the USA.
Before the episode aired, Will wrote a very funny tweet about his outing on the show. He wrote, "My handsome pop and I got to be on #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire to raise money for @Pangea4Change. Watch tonite 10/9c to see if I win big! Keep in mind, my mother regularly drank paint when I was in the womb."
While the tweet attracted a lot of positive comments there were also some who had a different perception on the new version of the show, for instance, this tweet which read, "I find it strange, that companies who do these shows have all this money to 'give' to charity. So lets say this charity is for homeless and starving children, this company can give 1 million dollars to help, but you fail with a question, so children stay homeless and starving,".
We did a little digging and found out that fans have been calling out this new edition of the show. "I didn't think reviewing the new WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE would be interesting, but I apparently have a lot of Thoughts about swapping smart normals for celebrities who should probably stop playing games and just donate to charity," wrote a fan of the show who believes that these celebrities should just donate to causes instead of coming on a show to win money.
"Jimmy Kimmel Who Wants to be a Millionaire is not Who wants to be a millionaire because it's Celebrities-Only. ABC would be better off calling it 'Who Wants to be Slightly Richer than they already are,' wrote another viewer.
While another viewer wrote, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire is back but with celebrities. Nobody wanna watch celebrities win money for charity."
'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' airs Tuesday nights on ABC. Check your local listings for more information.
