Who is WSG Wannabe? Female version of MSG Wannabe also go viral and top all charts
New project girl group WSG Wannabe has taken over South Korea as their track ‘At That Moment’ topped all music charts: Bugs, MelOn, FLO, VIBE and Genie. ‘I Missed You’ followed at #2 and the third single ‘Clink Clink’ is steadily climbing the charts. In fact, ‘At That Moment’ has been at #1 on MelOn for five days straight and crossed 1 million unique listeners on MelOn making it the fastest female act song to cross this milestone in 2022. We even had fans of veteran stars like TWICE’s Nayeon trying to push WSG Wannabe out of the #1 position from the charts but to no avail. So who is WSG Wannabe?
Even the other tracks like ‘I Missed You’ amassed 1 million listeners on MelOn which happens to be an even bigger music streaming platform than Spotify in South Korea. ‘Clink Clink’ also held its own as it was #3 on Genie, Bugs and FLO while flitting in the top 5 of MelOn. These three tracks were released by three sub-units of WSG Wannabe, a project group formed of soloists, actresses, members from lesser popular K-pop girl groups like Laboum and SeeYa and older groups past their prime like Baby Vox, one of the first K-pop groups. They happen to be the female version of MSG Wannabe, a project group that too took over the charts in 2021.

Who is WSG Wannabe?
‘Hangout with Yoo’ is a popular South Korean reality show that airs on MBC. It is hosted by the nation’s favorite comedian Yoo Jae-suk who was responsible for forming the successful project groups SSAK3 with Lee Hyori, Rain and himself, Refund Sisters with Jessi, Lee Hyori, Uhm Junghwa and Hwasa and then MSG Wannabe.
MSG Wannabe also caught the attention of BTS and Ed Sheeran while occupying #1 and #2 on all South Korean music charts for days. WSG Wannabe is seeing the same popularity as they achieved all-time kills (topping all Korean charts). Within 2 weeks of their debut, they are set to have their first solo concert on July 21 which was sold out in 3 minutes.

WSG Wannabe is a 12-member project group that is focusing on R&B and ballad tracks. They were divided into three sub-units with each releasing a hit single on July 9. The unit Oh-Ah-Siso consists of Baby Vox’s Yoon Eunhye, Sunny Hill’s Kota, actress Park Jinjoo of ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ fame and Urban Zakapa’s Jo Hyun-ah and released ‘Clink Clink’. 4Fire consists of Navi, Live High’s Sole, Uhm Jiyoon and soloist Kwon Jin-ah and released ‘I Missed You’. Gaya G consists of SeeYa’s Lee Boram, Laboum’s Soyeon, HYNN and actress Jung Jiso of ‘Parasite’ fame and released ‘At That Moment’.
