Johnny Depp is currently on all big or small news outlets and channels as he is fighting a defamation case against his former wife, Amber Heard, in a Virginia court. He is also trending on social media platforms, with some people supporting him while some backing Heard. But one thing is for sure - he is topping the charts everywhere. Another person who has received his own moment of popularity because of Depp is Korean actor Park Hoon.

Hoon, whose real name is Park Won-hee, is a 41-year-old South Korean artist, who has worked in a number of television series, movies, as well as web series like ‘Descendants of the Sun’, ‘Naked Fireman’, ‘Two Cops’, ‘Memories of the Alhambra’, ‘Remarriage & Desires’, ‘Nokdu Flower’, ‘A Violent Prosecutor’, and ‘Soundtrack #1’. His biggest film was this year’s ‘The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure’ in which his Mangcho character was reportedly praised.

But what attracted a lot of attention for him lately was his role in Netflix’s K-drama ‘Tomorrow’. He was seen in episode 15 of the series as Ha Dae-soo, King Yeomra the Great – the king of the underworld who protects hell, and since then people have not stopped talking about him. His resemblance to Depp was such that soon people started calling him the “Korean Johnny Depp”.

Twitter was filled with Hoon’s pictures from ‘Tomorrow’ as a user tweeted, “The king of the underworld, Hades Johnny Depp Korean version #TomorrowEp15.” The second user shared: “Anyone else agree he looks like a Korean version of #JohnnyDepp !!??? Like I’m getting serious vibes. #TomorrowEp15.” The third user wrote: “Why does he look like a Korean Johnny Depp 😭😭.” “Johnny Depp from multiverse Korean,” the fourth one remarked. A person added: “‘Korean Johnny Depp’ I’m in tears. 😭.”

This came amid Depp and Heard's faceoff in the Virginia court where they are trying to prove themselves as victims while the other one as the abuser in their past relationship.

The center of the legal drama is a 2018 op-ed written by the 36-year-old actress, who called herself a domestic violence survivor. Heard had written in the piece titled ‘I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change’, “Like many women, I had been harassed and sexually assaulted by the time I was of college age. But I kept quiet — I did not expect filing complaints to bring justice. And I didn’t see myself as a victim. Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”

Though she did not name Depp in it, his team believed it was against him only and they sued the actress for $50 million. Heard did not back down and she counterused her ex-husband for $100 million. A source from her side said in April after the trial began, “He threatened to ruin her career and inflict global humiliation upon her, and after losing in the UK, this is his last gasp attempt. A jury verdict against Johnny will send a message to the millions of women out there who suffer from intimate partner violence every single day, that they can move safely on with their lives. And it will allow Amber to move on as well.”
