Johnny Depp and lawyer Camille Vasquez have been criticized for smiling and giggling during Ellen Barkin's testimony in the Virginia court.

Johnny Depp and one of his lawyers, Camille Vasquez, who has become quite famous among his fans, have been criticized online as they were seen smiling and giggling during Ellen Barkin's testimony in the Virginia court. Barkin’s pre-recorded deposition from November 2019 was played in the court on Thursday, May 19, in which she accused the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star of being a “controlling, jealous man”.

The 68-year-old actress said that her and Depp’s friendship began in 1990, which eventually got romantic. But she then asked for a correction saying, “Can you change that to sexual? Thank you.” She then went on to reveal details about their relationship that included her going to the 58-year-old star’s house or him visiting her three or four times a week.

Barkin also claimed, “He was drunk all the, most, a lot of the time.” When she was questioned about the number of times she saw Depp drinking or taking cocaine, marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs, she replied: “I couldn't even tell you. He was always drinking or smoking a joint.”

When asked, “Did there come a time when Mr. Depp acted in a way that was out of control with you?”, Barkin stated, "Yes. Mr Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in one instance, in Las Vegas while shooting Fear and Loathing. A fight was going on, between Johnny Depp and his friends in the room, the assistant.” Barkin however could not recall if the bottle was full but clarified that the bottle did not hit anyone.

Barkin also called Depp “a jealous man, controlling,” who used to ask her “where are you going, who are you going with. What did you do last night,” as she added: “I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he he insisted it came from having sex with a person who wasn't him.”

While the ‘Sea of Love’ actress’ testimony attracted a lot of attention online, the behaviour of Depp and his lawyer Vasquez raised many eyebrows too. A lot of Heard’s fans rallied against them on social media with one saying, “Why is Camille Vasquez laughing during Ellen Barkin's testimony? She started smirking as soon as she saw her on screen. I cannot believe how unprofessional his team are.” Another one tweeted: “During the Ellen Barkin deposition, here is what druggie Johnny & his unprofessional lawyers are doing: laughing and flirting as usual. #DeppvHeard #CamilleVazquez #IStandWithAmberHeard.” “They think they've already won. Johnny doesn't act like a traumatized victim but I just wonder if the jury will side with this wall of laughing attorneys who are just so vile. This whole trial is a continuation of Depp's domestic violence,” the third one wrote.

A tweet against them read: “Johnny can sit here and giggle in this courtroom treating this like a highschool classroom but had this been Amber the deppheads would be at her throat saying she’s disrespectful and even a ‘whore’ for seducing her law team #IStandWithAmberHeard. “The lawyer should know better. I wonder how the jury is interpreting their behavior, and it’s a mystery to me how the judge is allowing this lack of decorum,” another tweet added.

“It’s beyond me.. I hope the jury notices how irresponsible and unprofessional they’re both acting. But I’m not shocked at all on Johnnys part more so the lawyer,” a person remarked. The second one said, “Exactly! It’s so apparent he doesn’t care about this case at all. He only wanted to torment Amber further than he already has.”
