ATLANTA, GEORGIA: 'Mama June: Family Crisis' Season 7 premiered with the fairytale wedding of Anna Cardwell and Eldridge Toney. However, the nupital also had an unexpected guest that left Mama 'June' Shannon stunned. Sandra Hale, June's mother, was married to Melvin Shannon.
Sandra and Melvin shared three kids, Jimmy, Doe Doe and June, before their divorce. Sandra had previously appeared in 'Honey Boo Boo' and 'Mama June: From Not to Hot' franchises. The relationship between Sandra and June had been strained, and her surprise arrival at Anna and Eldridge's wedding caught June off guard.
In a confessional, June admitted, "I haven't spoke to my mother in like ten years. There was a document that was sold to the tabloids that only my mother could get a hold of and she sold it for $500." And I stopped speaking to her immediately." The reality star then approached her daughter, Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson and shared the news that her grandmother was also at the wedding. Honey Boo Boo was equally stunned by Sandra's arrival, labeling the situation "awkwar." She expressed her reluctance to talk to her grandmother.
June noted in the confessional, "The last time that I seen my mother was at Sugar Bear and Jennifer's wedding. None of us in the family talk to my mother but Alana. This could be very intense." However, when she shared the information with Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efrid, she added, "It ain't going to be social hour." Despite June's reservations, Pumpkin insisted that her mother act "civil" for Anna's sake.
What happened between Mama June and her mother Sandra Hale?
Mama June's relationship with Sandra Hale took a severe hit after her mother sold some intimate documents to the media outlet. This rift deepened when June was involved with Mark McDaniel, a convicted child abuser. Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell, June's daughter, accused Mark of abusing her. Despite Anna's accusations, June continued her relationship with Mark. Sandra then took a significant step by filing a police complaint against Mark on behalf of Anna. Mark served a prison sentence for approximately 10 years, but June later rekindled her romance with him.
Amidst the family turmoil, June accused Sandra of pushing Anna's abuse claims solely for financial gain. In an episode of 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo', June shared, "I just think it’s more of my mom pushing her than any of this because I’ve gotten several text messages where my mom is pushing it more than Anna."
She added, "Me and Anna do have peace, it’s just my mom she doesn’t understand that there is no more money for her, sorry,” she said. “Anna knows that I’ll always be there for her but she needs to stop listening to my mom, my mom need to stop pushing, she’s a money hungry b***h."
Pumpkin plans Anna Cardwell and Eldridge Toney's wedding in three days
Anna Cardwell reached out to Pumpkin for help in planning her wedding to Eldridge Toney in just three days. She called Pumpkin and said, "I really really need you to do something for me. I want you to plan my wedding." Honey Boo Boo was present with Pumpkin during the call and shockingly questioned if Anna was sure about the wedding idea.
Honey Boo Boo further inquired, "When did y'all even decide that?" Anna explained, "Well me and Eldridge sat here and talked about this the other night and the girls love him and then on top of this cancer situation, you know, you never know what's going to happen." She emphasized, "I start chemo Monday, So I want to get this wedding done before."
Pumpkin assured Anna that she could "pull something together." In the confessional, Pumpkin shared, "I do understand where Anna is coming from. Eldridge and her have been together for six-plus years and he's good to Anna's two kids." She added, "So if marrying El gets her through the next phase, I'm all for it."
