Season 3 of the Netflix reality show ‘The Circle’ is just around the corner and a new group of intriguing contestants is set to enter the game show for winning the mega prize of $100,000. However, winning money is not the sole purpose of the show. The show also opens the doors for the contestants to become influencers in their own right and that’s why this show is so popular.
The game show sees a group of people moving into the same building, but they never come face to face. They are provided a special social media platform where they can post stuff and express themselves as themselves or someone else. They rate each other and whosoever gets the highest points, becomes an influencer while the bottom two are in danger to be blocked. Apart from the contestants, there’s always excitement about who’s going to host the show and it is none other than Michelle Buteau, who is returning to host the latest edition as well.

She’s one of the few celebrities who share just the right amount of information about her personal life and we do know that she is happily married to the Dutch photographer Gijs van der Most. So who is van der Most? And how did the couple meet? Let’s dig a little deeper and know more about their relationship?
Who is Gijs van der Most and how did the couple meet?
Born on September 16, Gijs van der Most is a Dutch photographer who has worked with several popular media outlets. He has spent most of his life in the Netherlands and studied photography at The Utrecht School for Arts (HKU) in The Netherlands. The couple mostly doesn’t post much about their personal lives on social media and reports suggest that Gijs doesn’t like to be in the limelight and works independently.
The couple met each other in the late 2000s and started their journey with a long-distance relationship. The LDR went about for 2 years and that’s when they decided to take things to the next level. In 2010, they thought of getting together for a lifetime and decided to get married. On July 31, 2010, the duo tied the knot and began a new chapter in their lives.
Last year, Buteau shared a snap from their special day and wrote, “Today makes 10 years. If I knew then what I know now, I’d still do that shit. Love is everything y’all.”
As far as his professional life is concerned, Gijs has prominently worked in Amsterdam for most of his life. However, he has now moved to the US and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife. As per his official website, the photographer has worked with several renowned publications like Esquire, People, Men’s Health, LPV Magazine, Fast Company, and more. He believes that his images are “driven from a genuine interest in people and their environment.”
Buteau publicly makes fun of her relationship
A relationship always works when you get the liberty to make fun of each other and it seems Buteau and Gijs share a similar kind of comfort in their marriage. Buteau uses her quirky nature to talk about her Dutch husband and make fun of him. She once tweeted, “My Dutch husband just asked me who Tony was & why do they have an award show.” Meanwhile, she also made fun of him on Instagram by posting a picture and revealing how her “Dutch husband crosses a New York Street.”
Buteau and Gijs share two kids together
The couple has been leading a happy life after their marriage, but they hit a bumpy road when it comes to having children. They tried having kids, but could not get success in doing so. In an essay for Glamour, the comedian revealed that she was diagnosed with Prolactinoma, which basically means that she had high levels of a hormone that impacts breast milk and can cause infertility.
“I felt like I was being punished for wanting a baby. I was 36 at the time,” she wrote.
They kept trying for another year, Buteau went through a couple of rounds of IVF and had four miscarriages. The couple tried to sell their house so that they could afford a surrogate and her mother stepped in to help them financially. They finally found a surrogate who successfully gave birth to their twins, Hazel and Otis van der Most.
The couple doesn’t share many photos of their children on social media and even if they do, they make sure that their faces aren’t visible.
Buteau will be seen hosting the third season of ‘The Circle’ on Netflix.
