Who is Joe Isidori? 'GMA's Michael Strahan awestruck by Michelin star chef’s sumptuous recipes for National Hot Dog Day
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Michael Strahan hosted a special segment in the latest episode of ‘Good Morning America’ in honor of National Hot Dog Day. The 51-year-old invited Michelin-star chef and restaurateur Joe Isidori to share three recipes that jazz up traditional American food. In the brief segment, Strahan was on his toes, rubbing his hands together, watching Joe work his magic with the hot dogs.
The National Hot Dog Day is celebrated on the third Wednesday of July each year in the United States. It was established by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council in 1972 to recognize the hot dog as a beloved and popular American food. The special segment also had four people waiting to taste the hot dog prepared by chef Joe Isidori who looked in high spirits as he narrated his actions while preparing the hot dogs. But it was the chef’s touch that left the viewers drooling and running to their nearby hot dog vendor.
Who is Joe Isidori?
Joe Isidori is an acclaimed chef in New York City who has been awarded a prestigious Michelin Star from the Legendary Michelin Guide. He is also the 3x New York City wine and food festival burger bash champion and has been named a Rising Star by Starchefs.com. During his stint as a professional chef, Joe has earned many accolades from The New York Times, Time Out NY, New York Magazine, and many more. He credits his childhood days as an inspiration behind its first restaurant Black Tap and states that he started the place as a tribute to his father.
Joe has an Italian restaurant in New York named ‘Arthur and Sons’ which has obtained a cult following among his followers. When it comes to hot dogs, Joe has created a new Hot Dog which he calls JoDog Craft Dogs. This hot dog blew up on the streets of New York during the pandemic and since then has become a favorite for many. JoDog Craft Hot Dogs is Joe’s second Tampa, Florida concept, as his Mexican restaurant JoToro debuted at Sparkman Wharf in Tampa about two years ago.
What were the three hot dogs prepared by Joe Isidori on ‘GMA’?
The three hot dogs on the menu were The Bronx Bomber, Tiki Dog, and Kimchi Dog. Joe started on Michael’s request to make the famous Bronx Bomber. Throughout the show, Michael was standing over Joe’s shoulder, watching him work, waiting to savor the hot dog in preparation. After preparing the Tiki Dog, Joe finally went in for the New York famous Kimchi dog which usually takes 5-7 minutes to prepare. However, Joe worked quickly and prepared the hot dog within a few minutes. Michael then jumped on the opportunity and fist-bumped Joe before he got to eat it. The ‘GMA’ host signed off by reminding the viewers to celebrate ‘National Hot Dog Day.’
